An easy, beautiful hike. You feel like you are in a whole different place, maybe a wandering meadow with a river in the mid west. Very peaceful, and neat to see the bridge with its history, and know it is not visible all the time. There were very few people out now (Nov), but the weather was perfect..

Old Salmon Falls area is a great place to explore and hike to in early Spring when the water level is low. Hidden Bridge is exposed above the water line in if water level in the lake are low, and allows you to experience a piece of hidden history. In the spring the surrounding landscape is vibrant with wildflowers and color and well worth a visit to explore and go hiking.

Beautiful hike today. Water level is up so complete access to worn hiking trails is hit and miss. Walking straight from the parking lot to the water gets you a marshy trail. The creek to the north is running strong and people not worried about losing their balance on a fallen tree bridge can make a dry crossing. Or just get your feet wet :-). Lots of shrubbery en route in beautiful purple bloom and lots of little yellow ground flowers make it picturesque. Let early for lupines here.

The lupine bloom is like nothing I’ve ever seen this year at Folsom lake. These pictures were taken at the Salmon Falls bridge. This bridge can only be seen during a drought year. Normally Folsom Lake water covers the bridge but water levels are extremely low this year. The low water has allowed wildflowers to bloom like crazy. Backstory on the Salmon Falls bridge. This used to be an old mining community before the Folsom dam was built in the town was flooded. I highly recommend visiting now the bloom will not last much longer.

The first time I went, i parked above the parking area where I didn't have to pay to park ($10). I thought I was being smart but this last time I went to the "paying lot" and it made a huge difference. The trail was different and the scenery was awesome. Use the paid lot. It's totally worth it.

Lots of Wild lupine flowers last weekend.
Free parking up the road. $10 parking down there get you closer to site. There is a portable restroom ?
There are also hiking trails starting from bottom parking lot for loop in 3 miles.

Was nice but there's so many thorny weeds and dead grass in June. Bring pants just in case.
