This is a fast, slightly technical trail to run with a lot of up and down. I ran 9 miles through this area last week and it was dry and very few wild flowers still blooming. Lots of rocks, creeks, swamps and hill climbs. Fun!

Great parking and bathroom at trail head, various routes and trails to the water. Didn't make it all the way to American River this trip but knickerbocker creek was running nicely.

Great place for a hike. Lots of parking with bathrooms. Don't forget to pay $10 to the iron ranger. Get a beer and great food after at the Cool Brewworks.

I rode my cruiser scooter to the end of the road and hiked the remaining to the river. It’s as serious a hike as Cardiac Bypass. Enjoy the hike back up!

Warning, do not take dogs on this trail; I pulled over 20 ticks off of my dog after hiking here. The trail was okay, not very well marked and there are a lot of side trails to take. Maybe better during another season- I hiked this during the middle of May.

Great park. Lots of horse poop for your bike to fling on you. Trails are awesome except all stream crossings are mud pits because equestrians have little respect for other users. Scenery is great. Wildflowers are abundant. Easy parking. Lots of alternative trails.

Ended up taking the Knickerbocker Creek Trail. Very pretty, lots of creek-hopping and carefully navigating to make sure we didn’t stray off the trail.
