Once upon a time, a long time ago, Scotia was a thriving Redwood Mill town. The Stan Murphy family of SF were the owners.
The homes in town were all owned by the mill...and workers lived in the town.
It was not uncommon to see one lumber truck with 1 to 3 huge redwoods in the back, being delivered.
Nowadays, you see a truck with 40 small trees piled together.
Scotia was a thriving happening place.
There are numerous buildings that are in a ruinous state....the Catholic Church closed...

Its pretty crazy that timber companies are still allowed to operate on BLM land much less in such a unique and old forest. Stop the destruction.

Leaving this review because one of the workers has left his dog tied up tightly for a very long time in the back of his work truck in the rain and cold (38° when I woke up to the whines and barking). There's no food or water besides the rain water for the poor dog, either. I'm staying at the Marriott where his truck has been backed up and all I can hear is the dog crying and barking (they're guests of Ukiah Hampton Inn). The police were out to investigate and both hotels are conscerned about the poor dog.

Not sure what kind of company thinks this is okay, but it's disturbing to say the least.

Money is enuff to convince this company to cut down an Un-entered never before cut old growth forest on Rainbow ridge, and begin devastating an ecosystem that's existed for thousands of years. Those trees are older than your grandpa's grandpa. Climate change or the collapse of the matole Rivershed must be worth a few million dollars tho. Look harder if a "sustainable" logging company is whom you wish to purchase lumber from. Thanks.

no longer logging 1-3 big trees, but rather they can be seen hauling 15-20 premature trees. one day these trees will outlive them.

With all the state regulations stifling business around logging, it is a surprise anything survived. Cheers to the owners here for sticking with it and providing much needed jobs in the County!
