Best sushi in New Haven! It’s my first time here. We reserved seats for Omakase. It’s so good, every piece is so good and different. I am so regretful that I didn’t come to this place earlier. Will definitely come back.

My wife and I went last night for the omakase. It was outstanding. I was grinning ear to ear throughout the entire meal as each piece was more delicious than the next. It is the best sushi I’ve ever had and certainly the best in the state of Connecticut. We cannot wait to come again, it was such a pleasure visiting.

The menu is small but what they do, they do VERY well. If you are looking for American sushi with all the filler (cucumber, cream cheese, avocado, etc.) this is not your place. I had the Symphony roll (tuna, salmon, and yellowtail). There was zero fishy smell and the meat just melted in my mouth. It was delicious! The dining room is very small but the sushi prep station is on full display and the chefs take great care in each and every order. I didn't sit at the bar but I saw the chefs interacting with those guests and asking a lot of questions about preferences and allergies. The chef that prepared my order delivered it to my table (as opposed to the waitress/hostess) which just thought was a very nice, personal gesture. They were not busy at all (Early on a Wednesday night) so may be a little different when they're busy. Overall a great experience.

We had a really fun time at Otaru. It’s a small place. They keep the door locked and let customers in as they arrive. I had the omakase. $108 and a lot of fun! The fish was delicious and I absolutely loved trying everything. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable. She described each dish or piece, told me how to eat it and what order to eat it in. If you like trying interesting sushi I would highly recommend! The toro with gold and caviar was my favorite piece hands down!The rest of my party ordered off the menu and enjoyed their dinner too. We finished up with a piece of wagu that was phenomenal!

INDESCRIBABLE!!! We did the classic 16 piece omakase, and it was phenomenal! If you are looking for a sushi of the highest quality, don’t look any further! So much better than many other famous NYC sushi places without a doubt!

The sushi here was exquisite! This has to be the best & freshest sushi I’ve ever had. The server here was very welcoming and she was very nice. The food came out fast and was very delicious. My taste buds were in heaven with chefs Sunny’s creations. The atmposphere was very calm and very pleasant. If you are a sushi fanatic I highly recommended giving Otaru sushi a try, chef sunny will not Disappoint you.

My friends and I were really craving sushi last night, and one of our classmates recommended Otaru Sushi, so we decided to check it out. Oh my goodness, you will not believe the rich burst of explosion in your mouth of such a juicy exquisite taste!! Honestly, words cannot even describe how fresh and succulent the fish is. The service was also superb; the waiter was so nice and the food came out very fast. Purely a hidden gem in New Haven, two thumbs up!

AMAZING!!! I was there on Friday for Omakase and it was beyond great! The chef that served us was very professional. Besides the food, they are also doing very well at keeping things clean and having clear glass/plastic up to separate each sections. Would definitely go again!!
