Terrible, greedy pricing. We got a propane delivery in December at $3.93/g (which is already very high), and then another today at $4.28/g. I called a different supplier, who I previously used when renting a house, and locked in $2.65/g for a year. We only use gas for heating in the winter, but Hocon is predatory with their pricing. If you think you're getting a good deal, do yourself a favor and quote your price with 2-3 local companies. You might be shocked, I sure was. Two stars because they've always come when we needed a fill, but they're not willing to give me reasonable prices without haggling.

They have the worst service. It took them three weeks for them to even talk to me to sign me up. Three weeks and that’s because I kept calling. They apologized so many times then they told me that they were gonna make me a priority and get my propane tanks to my destination And they failed at it. Eight days later I have no propane but yet they got my money. I called them because I ran out of propane and they told me they can deliver it the next day. Horrible and horrible service. . It’s been like a month and I still didn’t get propane tanks that I paid for eight days ago into my location. So basically I’m screwed because I have no heat and I need to freeze my butt off the night. Unacceptable service one of the worst.. They have an emergency line what kind of emergency it is if it’s the next day first of all second of all, I believe they wanted me to pay for that. They dropped the freaking ball and did not take care of a new customer. I will cancel them. I’m getting all my money back and screw them. We are very pleased with our service from Hocon Gas, we bought a new home and they serviced the propane tanks on the property. They are always efficient with their deliveries, when we added a full house generator to our property they made the procedure effortless for us. Their quote was fair, service was excellent, always polite staff. I highly recommend Hocon Gas of Guilford!

I have been trying for 4 months to get a rebate without success. Three years ago I changed from oil to propane moving from a house to a mobile home. The previous owner had Holcon so I decided to keep them as my provider. They signed me up for every plan possible not explaining what was being covered costing over a thousand dollars. I finally decided to change providers and have been waiting 4 months for my refund on my credit balance. Called several times and every time they promise that they will credit my card that day and is yet to happen. Very disappointed…

Excellent service and friendly staff. Always on time delivery and response. Barbara in Guilford office deserves 6 stars!! But if you need service beware! 18” gas pipe to my grill replacement $ 501.51. $225 per hour plus $150 service call and $29.53 sales tax they even charge $6.99 fuel surcharge?!!! UNBELIEVABLE they got half of my wife's SS benefits in one hour.That’s more than I paid for the grill.

I was a customer of this awful company for 10 years. I should have stopped using them right from the start when they exercised overly aggressive billing tactics. However, after complaining to their customer service department I got an apology. These tactics stopped and all was fine for years. Most recently, however, despite having a service contract with them, they failed to deliver propane to us for months, and we woke up one day with cold showers. In the meantime, we had to spend money to figure out that the problem was a lack of propane, and when we called to complain we got an earful about how this problem was our fault - we should have checked our propane tank (um, isn't that the point of having a service contract), we should have moved our car in the drive way (but this had never been a problem in the ten years prior). The gist was - we were the dummies. And actually, I have to say in one way Hocon was correct - we were the dummies. Not due to the lack of propane but due to sticking with them all these years. Because of this incident when I finally called other companies about propane delivery, I realized I have spent the last 10 years getting totally hosed by their pricing which is over 100% more than many other local oil companies. I know there are some decent reviews of this company, and it has to be friends and family writing them. No one cares about writing review of a gas company unless you have a problem and even then most people don't bother. However, if you are using Hocon and you do have a problem you will feel very unsatisfied with the outcome and if you never have an overt problem, the passive problem is their outrageous pricing.

Ok, first, if I could take away that one star, I would. We have purchased two gas fireplaces from Hocon. We have been customers for approx 20 years. But, we were never given any options concerning the “tank” such as renting to buy, or buying it outright. We rented it for $69 a year. I’m sure this was by design so that you can’t get propane from anyone else! They owned me. Their propane price was always so high that we only used it when we REALLY wanted to or needed to. This year, I called to order propane and was told it was $7.00 a gallon!!!! Whattttt? My blood pressure went way up! She told me that it was because we had not ordered in quite some time. I told her that we’ve bought two fireplaces from them and have been renting this tank for about 20 years and this is what we have to pay? She said that she could talk to the manager and “someone” will call me back. No one ever did. Surprise, surprise.
Meanwhile, I also needed oil, so I went on Forbes website and WOW! They are selling propane for $1.95 a gallon!!! I had Forbes deliver my oil, arrange for someone to switch out Hocon’s tank and I’m leasing to OWN the new tank and they filled it with propane. All in a day. Now that is great customer service and great pricing. I called Hocon and told them to come and pick up their tank….and it’s still here two weeks later! I’ve been using our fireplace EVERY day now with this awful cold weather we are having right now! I saved $500 by switching to Forbes…and their oil was only $3.19 a gallon! I put a deposit down on the tank and will pay $20 a month until it’s paid for in less than 2 years. Then I’ll own it. No one will own me this time. Too bad that I wasted all that money renting from Hocon, but that’s on me.
Too bad for Hocon though, because we’re buying a new gas fireplace now (better and more expensive one) and it won’t be from them. This time they lose. We’ve had many problems with them in the past and just let them go…but not this time. Never again. Buyer beware if you read this review!

Horrible service!! Customer for 16 years. Constantly chasing to get tank filled. Was on an automatic delivery schedule which in the last two years has not worked. Ran out of propane as a result. Billing practices are terrible. I get Overcharge per gallon every time and have to call after every delivery to get the price per gallon fixed. They have a growing monopoly in CT and they just don’t care! Buyer beware.
