I've been wanting to make a bioactive vivarium for my ball python since I've got her and didn't know where to start. I stopped by this place this morning and Jess and both Mike's were extremely helpful in helping me get everything I needed to start this journey. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. I spent a solid hour and half talking to them about the store and everything else I needed to know. I live about an hour a way but will definitely be going back for anything else I may need in the future. I highly recommend this place!! And I know my snake is enjoying her new tank!

I've ordered from NEHERP a few times and have been impressed. I've ordered bulk plants, cork bark, and ghostwood. When I placed my first order, I was a bit concerned about what I would recieve as the selection of specific plants/pieces wasn't up to me, but ive been very happy with what was sent. I've also called for advice on setting up bioactive enclosures and they always seem passionate about sharing advice. I don't have pictures from when I received the orders, but the wood decor and plants in this enclosure are all from NEHERP.

I learned of NEHERP through my current internship. I wrote them an email asking a few questions, and someone responded by the next day with very thoughtful individualized answers that included details I did not even think to ask. Additionally, I forgot to add an item to my order and they patiently assisted me in getting the item added onto the order so I did not have to pay for shipping twice. It was evident how much this company cares about their customers, but most importantly, animals. The staff at this company has a ton of knowledge and I recommend reaching out to them if you are looking to provide your animals with the best habitats possible!

I ordered online. The service was great! The package arrived so quickly and the tracking was up to date. I had live plants, live clean up crew and everything was as described. The price comparison was the main reason for purchase.
I received everything for an 18x18x24 enclosure, plus plants and moss and critters for the same price as other sites that included only substrate and drainage layer. And since I’m on the east coast and so is NE Herp, the decision was clear! Thank you NE Herp. I’ll be back for more!

This is a great shop when looking for terrarium plants/products!! They seem to really care about the plants and their customers and they have responsible shipping practices. Every plant I bought came in pre-washed, carefully packaged, high quality, and most importantly, in very healthy condition! They even got me the perfect piece of driftwood I requested. I wasn’t expecting them to get such a perfect piece. 10/10, I will definitely be returning as a customer.

Where to start? First of all this is a LONG review because just putting 5 stars and a thumbs up isn’t enough.

This place is INCREDIBLE!!! I was looking online for feeder insects and stumbled onto their website after searching a few other places Not only did they have exactly what I was looking for (other sites were out of isopods & fruit flies) but the wealth of information for growing/maintaining the cultures made me confident that I could succeed in my new bug-farming adventure

I placed an online order for different cultures as well as a kit to grow more fruit flies and my shipment arrived on time and in perfect condition with thriving colonies of feeders and everything I needed to start a gazillion more.

Unfortunately I miscalculated how voracious my tiny toads would be and I didn’t start the next colony soon enough so I had hungry babies without enough flies to go around. Instead of driving 5 minutes to the local big box pet store to buy them out of containers of half dead flies I decided to drive for over an hour to get to NEHERP to pick up some colonies before the holiday weekend.

Let me just say - MIND BLOWN!!!

Not only did I get exactly what I needed (and then some) but the knowledge that the personnel have and were willing to share was staggering. The staff don’t just understand these animals and their unique needs - they have a passion for herpetology that is contagious. They genuinely love amphibians and reptiles and it shows.

I am so glad I made the drive to Plainville for fruit flies… I left with enough feeders to sustain these tiny toads but more importantly I walked away with a better understanding of the animals in my care.

If you care for reptiles and amphibians do them a favor and make a trip to NEHERP… at the very least place an order online. Your pet will be very glad you did.

I built my first vivarium under the guidance of NEHERP. Their on-line instructional guides are awesome and help you do it right the first time. Their showroom is packed with examples of completed vivarium so you can see what you’ll end up with. Customer service is the best I’ve ever experienced, they really care and want you to succeed. I’m now building my 6th vivarium. I need a bigger house.

TLDR; Great company with amazing customer service, kits, quality products and plants, amazing selections, and prices. My go to shop.

I ordered nearly $800 dollars worth of supplies to create a bioactive enclosure for my reed frogs. I bought nearly everything I needed for it from them including 3 of their kits(background kit, substrate kit, and plant kit).

The plants I received were all of great quality and looked amazing. I got the perfect amount of substrate and drainage layer to fill the tank and pots in the background. The clean up crew were all alive and active. The moss was great although I failed at keeping the moss slurry alive as it dried out, but that was simply user error. The cork pieces I received for the background were great and had good variety, and I had enough leftover to place some on the ground for the hardscape.
The background kit had the perfect amount of foam to cover the background completely. I did buy an extra can because I wanted to do some on the side but I still had enough silicone, cork, and background mix to decorate and cover it.
I had also bought some other decorations and ghostwood for the hard scape and rocks for the water portion, as well as a light for uvb and the plants.

The items were shipped in 4 or 5 separate boxes to avoid an extra charge on shipping oversized packages. Despite the size of the order shipping was less than $70.

Along with the high quality products, the customer service was amazing. I sent over 10 emails to them with questions from asking for a shipping estimate before placing the order, what substrate was the best pick, if they would be able to ship the plants later than the rest to ensure I had time to set up the enclosure first(they did), and the best way to keep the plants alive for a couple days after they arrived before planting because I miscalculated the time it would take to set it up. They responded to all my questions quickly and with detailed answers and made sure to let me know they would answer any other questions I may have. They also sent me a link to pick out a freebie for my order. This was some of the best customer service I've ever gotten from a company and was one of the main reasons I decided to go with them over another, along with the fact that they had the lowest prices out of all the other companies I looked at.

Overall, they are an amazing company and I will forever go to them for all my herp needs.
