My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with Hudson Valley Preservation, and we cannot recommend them highly enough. From our initial meeting with Mason to getting to know their entire team throughout the project – their professionalism, attention to detail, patience, thoughtfulness, and craftsmanship were outstanding.

Our initial vision was to remodel the 1970s kitchen in our 1700s farmhouse…but it quickly turned into an entirely new kitchen and mudroom addition/extension and a few other projects including painting the entire exterior and interior of our home, significant rot repair, new gutters, installation of HVAC, upgraded electrical, floodproofing (after the home suffered damage from the flooding last summer)…. We trusted them to assist us in upgrading a historic home while at the same time, keeping its integrity and character. The finished product is a cozy and serene. Every time we walk in the new front door, we still comment to each other how much it feels like home.

HVP was communicative, listened to our ideas, and provided honest advice on what could be achieved. At the end of our weekly meetings, Nancy would ask for a “temperature check,” which shows how much they sincerely cared about how we felt about the process on an ongoing basis.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about working with HVP was their team. They were genuine, good-humored, respectful, honest, and a real joy to work with—all around, just good human beings. When the flooding struck Southbury last summer, Dave and Brian both drove to our home on a Sunday and spent hours pumping water out of the cellar.

We are grateful to have worked with them on this project, and we’re already thinking about future plans so we can collaborate again. Thank you, HVP. You are all welcome over for another happy hour anytime!

I’ve completed one building project with HVPC and they are working on a second for us. The house they completed for us is truly spectacular and they did a wonderful job. Mason and Dave are exceptional to work with and are very focused on quality and making sure that their client is satisfied. I’ve built a number of other houses and think they are top notch contractors. I trust them completely and would recommend them without any reservation.

We hired Hudson Valley Preservation for two larger home remodeling projects. The first was an install of a very custom high end kitchen and the other was repair to the side of our house. We decided to hire HVP the first time based on asking other people we knew in the trades for recommendations. The HVP name kept coming up. We are homeowners who value quality of workmanship, communication, and having a team of craftsmen that is going to get the job done as quickly as possible. On both jobs they gave us all three.

Dave and Mason are people who enjoy their craft. Every conversation we had with them was filled with insight about best building practices. The kitchen project was planned well in advance and we were able to work closely with HVP on timing so that the job would go quickly. The second job was an unwelcome surprise when we discovered rot occurring on the side of our house. Not only did we need to fix that issue, which has been an ongoing problem, but we also needed to rebuild a deck located in a tough area. When Dave and Mason said they would be able to fit us in we did not hesitate to have them do the project. In fact just knowing they were going to do the project lead us to feeling we could relax and trust them to do the job correctly.

Since the second job needed to be done without as much planning and there were more on-the-fly decisions, good communication was essential. Dave and the entire crew were always willing to stop and answer questions. If Dave was not on site he was quick to answer a text or pick up a call. Every day the crew was out first thing in the morning at the same time. There was never a day that the crew just didn’t show up unless we knew about it due to weather or a holiday.

For us HVP is committed to excellence. Over the years we have reached out to Dave with questions and he has always been very generous with his time in order to help us. If you value quality you will not be able to get a much better team. They know the best local contractors and if they need to subcontract work out, the subs will be the best in the area. Finally, HVP is well respected by building inspectors, and that speaks volumes.

I would NOT recommend working with these people. Zero communication. They did a project for us, told us the project was finished and I find out that they withheld IMPORTANT information for over a month before giving us the full story. I had already spent thousands of dollars cleaning up the mess of their project only to hear a month later there was more work to be done and that I would have to undo everything I paid to have cleaned up. There was NO disclosure that there could potentially be an issue, they told us project finished and you are good to go. Then to find out 2 months later there is still a major issue and more work needs to be done. No honesty, no communication, and they clearly do not care about wasting your money.

Hudson Valley Preservation was hired for different projects for our home. In spite of the fact that they have great sub-contractors on their roster who do very good to excellent work, their major detractor is that you can wind up getting “better jobbed.”

This happened to my husband and I without so much as a word or explanation from Dave Seeger’s. Prior to that, we had asked several times for proposals for different phases to said project, which was never forthcoming.

One aspect to the job, was an addition for brand new kitchen, for which DAVE has asked us to wait a year before beginning until his other projects in the pipeline were completed. We agreed because we a) appreciated the work, and b) because we trusted him.

As HVP was finishing our last project ended, and determined to end their working relationship with us without so much as a word, 7 months had gone by, wasting precious time in anticipation of beginning our kitchen addition. We could have found another contractor and could have begun the work. The behavior was highly unprofessional, and we could not therefore recommend this company in good faith.
