The green coffee we buy from Legacy Farms is far above par. The coffee is always fresh, well packaged, and delivered quickly. Knowing each purchase is part of building a better life for others is the greatest part. Good coffee, great people, and a vision to make a difference. That means something.

My wife and I were passing through Abilene on our way back home to Lawrence from a concert at the beautiful Stiefel Theater in Salina and we found this little boutique that was selling 1 pound bags of whole beans from Legacy Farms. My wife and I LOVE coffee, and I love to support small businesses and purchase local goods. I was pretty excited when I saw those brown bags from Legacy Farms on the shelf! I picked up a bag of the Espresso Roast and I couldn't wait to try it! The next morning, I opened up the bag and the first thing I noticed was that the beans were VERY light in color. Not a huge deal, but we like darker roasts which is what I thought I would be getting with an espresso roast. I made my coffee that morning and was unpleasantly dissatisfied. I wanted it to be SO good, and it just wasn't. It was lackluster and flavorless. I've had better coffee from gas stations. My hope is Legacy Farms is in its infancy as a coffee company, and they just have more to learn. I'll give them a few years and try again.

We have been enjoying this superb coffee for years now, and the biggest treasure is the friendship we have with Ashley and Julia. It is one thing to have such great coffee to drink and quite another to admire and love the ones who produce it.
The "Legacy" part of this is that Ashley and Julia have worked harder to help the people of Cerro Bueno, Honduras than they do their own plantation. Years ago, the term "fair trade" was touted as showing the best practices for businesses like this. Well, let me describe what that means for Legacy Farms:
Ashley and Julia have raised up men and women who want to start their own plantations and trained them in every way;
They have built, rebuilt, and added electricity to homes and added appliances;
They have been working for years to build a Community Center and Library and are adding books all the time:
And they want to begin to provide dental services in this remote area.
Awesome coffee, great selection, speedy delivery, and THE best people you could ever hope to know:

We have purchased green LF Coffee for roasting for the last 5 years because of several reasons. Direct trade- no middle man, and we know how the proceeds are being spent. Mission- to promote the gospel of Christ to the community in Honduras. Purpose- Ashley and Julia give families on and around the farm the ability to succeed, with equipment, coffee plants, and even chickens! Quality- the quality of their coffee is outstanding! Ashley is even working on cutting-edge methods of processing, like anaerobic fermentation of beans. Support local, support direct trade, support the good work of Legacy Farms Coffee!
