We had Nick as our guide and he was great! In the morning, we got stuck in traffic due to construction and he waited for us and was very kind about the situation! He was a great teacher on fishing techniques and allowed us to catch many different kinds of fish. It was clear he was knowledgeable and passionate about Alaska wild life! It was an experience my husband and I will forever cherish as apart of our honeymoon ๐Ÿ™‚

I fished at Fishology more than 10 times over the years. They have the best guides for fishing and for guest comfort and service. The location next to the most beautiful part of the Kenai is spectacular and their cabins are comfortable and modern. The campfires are amazing. I do not think there is a better place in Alaska, they arrange flyouts and trips for the best fishing experience. Don't even think about going anywhere else!

Beautiful sunshiny days to fish and explore the peninsula. Caught our first sockeye off a gravel bar during our river trip with Chase and Parker on the Kasilof. Next day we did a fly-in to Big River Lakes to catch more sockeye. Exceptional bear viewing as we fished was an added highlight. Flight tour gave us excellent aerial views of Chigmit Range. Aaron had a wealth of sportsman knowledge to share with us on that venture. Appreciate Fishology for answering all our questions in planning process, the clear communication, and setting us up for success through their networking. Thanks to our guides for their hospitality. We hope to do it all over again one day.

When I planned my first trip to Alaska, I knew it wouldn't be complete without doing some salmon fishing. After hours of research, I decided on Fishology, and they did not disappoint. Ryan was an excellent guide. With his knowledge of the Kenai river and years of experience, I caught my limit of silver salmon. It couldn't have been better. I'd love to book with Fishology the next time I'm in Alaska.

SOCKEYE Fishing With Fishology and Adam

Another home run with Fishology. We had so many questions and every one went out of their way to set us up for success. Communication is simply top notch. Highly responsive, quick to tackle anything that may come up. Mark matched us perfectly with Adam and Alicia made sure that we knew where we had to be and how to connect with Adam. Adam is a phenomenal guide. He understood that this was a big day for my wife, her first SOCKEYE fishing experience. We found our spot in a few minutes and quickly learned to the fine art of โ€œflossingโ€. 60 minutes later we had bagged out, three beautiful SOCKEYE each. Heading home for a large Fish Smoke with friends and family. If you are targeting TROUT or SOCKEYE, ask for Adam. He knows the environment intimately, was absolutely superb when it came to working with my wife and had her casting like a 40 year veteran in literally, no time at all. I love his coaching style and how super supportive he continued to be, through our whole fishing trip. On top of that, Adam is one of those fun people you would like too just hangout with. Great communicator, very funny, very easy to get along with. His boat is super clean and very well presented. He asks all the right questions and makes everyone in the party feel like he is there for that individual only. 5 stars mate, great job Adam, Mark and Alicia.

KING SALMON Fishing With Fishology and Chase

We were scheduled to to go Halibut fishing. The weather turned and that was the end of that. Mark and Alicia jumped into high gear and got us booked with Chase for a KING SALMON guided experience. We had so many questions and every one went out of their way to set us up for success. Communication is always top notch with this crew. Highly responsive, quick to tackle anything that may come up. Casey is one of the hardest working guides I have ever met. He pushed us into the best fishing holes and worked the ores to capitalize on the best spots, in the best holes. He constantly rowed, tended lines, swapped out fresh bait, coached and taught us all about the Kasiloff river and their residents, the gorgeous KING SALMON. The KINGS are diminishing at an alarming rate and all the guides work very hard to preserve these fine fish for generations to come. We caught 3 nice KINGS and two HUGE SOCKEYES. Whatever we were not allowed keep, Chase made sure went back to the river with as little handling and as much care as possible. It makes me so happy to know that there are people like Chase out there, providing incredible experiences yet working that hard to preserve these experiences for future generations. KING SALMON Fishing is a great adventure and I highly, highly recommend the Chase Guided King Salmon adventure. Simply outstanding. Another flawless event presented by Mark, Alicia and Chase.

TROUT Fishing With Fishology and Aaron

WOW, Mark and Alicia from Fishology are amazing to work with ๐Ÿ˜€ You can โ€œbook with the best or go with the restโ€ ๐Ÿ˜Ž We had so many questions and every one went out of their way to set us up for success. Communication is simply top notch. Highly responsive, quick to tackle anything that may come up. Our Trout experience was flawless. Mark set us up with Aaron. Aaron is patient, knowledgeable and was a great instructor for my wife. This was her first trip. We caught so many fish we stopped counting at 20. As an avid fly fisherman, I deeply respected how Aaron handled the fish and was careful to return them to the water unharmed. He explained to us how the fishery is protected and kept us off the spawning beds. This in no way meant any less fun or smaller fish. We have great pictures and wonderful memories of our trout trip, highly recommend Fishology, Mark, Alicia and Aaron.

We booked a cabin and 3 charters through Fishology. We found these folks to be engaged during the booking process, but pretty hands off afterwards.

We were a week early for the salmon. That isn't the problem, as we understand the importance of run timing. Seeing both owners on separate boats with friends pass us in the Kasilof river catching fish, while we got skunked with the guide service they put us on, is not a good experience. When we returned to the cabin, other customers caught limits by doing fly-outs. In other words, go to the fish if the fish don't come to you. We weren't aware of this option, nor was it presented. It would have been a nice service element to make us aware in the event we wanted to take advantage of it.

For halibut, they booked us on a charter in Ninilchik, half way to Homer from Kenai. We departed at 6:30am and returned to shore by 9am. In Ninilchik you stay close to shore, catch very small halibut which the charter encouraged everyone to keep, and limit quickly. The ocean floor is not rocky, so there's no other fish, like ling, to fish for. I would never fish Ninilchik for halibut, and several other guides we mentioned this to suggested this was known and a very lame move on the part of Fishology. They could have put us on a charter in Homer, but chose not to. Perhaps a 2-hour charter comes with lower cost?

Day 3 - upper Kenai for catch and release trout. Great guide, fun day. Only issue is that it was supposed to be salmon fishing, and nobody said anything until we got in the boat. So plan change without any communication. On the one hand, not a surprise, but on the other, quite disappointing there was no notice.

The best thing about this company is they have a nice location on the river. I personally won't use their services again.

We had a great experience fishing with Garett this summer. He was patient, funny and a great teacher. He took us to the best spots to make sure we got some salmon. We had plenty to take home. They were very to book as well. Thanks for a great time!

Fishology = A++

I planned our once in a lifetime trip to Alaska in order to experience a bucket list โœ… with my dad who has talked about wanting to go fishing in Alaska for as long as I can remember.

We had the most amazing experience with Fishology, starting with the countless calls and e-mails I exchanged with Mark, the owner during my planning phase. He was so patient with my millions of questions as I worked to make sure it was going to be the right fit as we had a family of five traveling to Alaska (3 generations) so there needed to be accommodations that would be acceptable for not only my father but also our children during this experience. Mark made me feel super comfortable to take the leap and put my trust in his business. Boy was I so happy we did! Our fishing experience was amazing!! Our guide Nick was just perfect and his passion for fishing and the success of his clients shined so brightly. Nick made sure we got a primo spot on the river and took his time helping us all get set up to ensure we had the proper technique mastered in order to fill our cooler for the ride home. Nick made this experience so fun for us, every single one of us had a blast and hit our limits within just a couple of hours.

The processing at Fishology gets a slightly lower score of a B:
We were able to have our 75 pounds of salmon processed, shrink wrapped, frozen and packaged at Fishology to carry home with us on the plane. We inquired on an option to have our salmon packed in a styrofoam cooler for the flight home but was told by the processor that they only use the box with the bag and that our fish would stay frozen for up to 48 hours in that bagged box. That is not entirely true. We stored our fish boxes in the ANC airport freezer for >8 hours overnight to stay frozen for as long as possible before our departure. The fish travelled 15 hours from the ANC airport freezer to our at home freezer in NC. The fish on the bottom stayed frozen but the top layer did start to thaw. If you plan to travel any longer than that, I would highly recommend you demand the styrofoam cooler box rather than the bag cooler box. We can attest to the styrofoamโ€™s ability as we had our 75 pounds of halibut processed in Ninilchik (from a different processor) and it was packaged in a styrofoam cooler box. The entire batch of halibut stayed hard as a rock throughout the entire trip!!

Lastly, we have found several bones in our salmon fillets so please do your due diligence when prepping the fish prior to cooking. But also be prepared to enjoy some delicious meat, it is ohh so good!!

With all of this being said, we would undoubtedly book another fishing trip with Fishology again in a heartbeat if the opportunity ever presented itself for us to return back to Alaska. Both Mark and Nick sealed the deal for us!! ๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿ™‚โ™ฅ๏ธ
