I've had the pleasure of knowing Dan personally and also working with him as a real estate agent on a transaction. He's a delightful person, and an honest businessman. It's not easy to find great builders in Austin who do solid work. Dan is one of the few. He's smart, no bull, and cares about his work.

We hired Avenue B to build a guest house for us, and we've been thrilled with their work. The quality of the final project exceeded our expectations, which were already very high; before hiring them, we had admired several houses they renovated and considered purchasing one of their homes.

They gave us a very competitive estimate and completed the project on budget. Throughout the project they were extremely responsive, always returning phone calls and answering emails within a few hours, and they kept us up to date on developments affecting the construction schedule.

Avenue B is very easy to work with and does very high-end work. We plan to use them on our next construction project and recommend them without reservation.

We engaged Avenue B's services for an extensive remodel of a 1930's bungalow home. Our initial attraction to the company was based on their website content which displayed a refreshing blend of an old home with the contemporary feel of the way we live in the modern world. Avenue B Development achieved this for us and then some. Jeff and his team were communicative throughout the entire process and always responsive to text, phone and email. They were able to add their perspective to the project without taking away from our vision. Our project from design with our architect to completed move in date lasted almost 2 years. They met all deadlines, effortlessly navigated a few issues that came up along the way and completed the project on time, on spec and on budget. Our overall experience was refreshing amidst a process that has a reputation of being stressful and exhausting.

Dan Kennedy was hired under Kennedy Construction Group on July 28, 2017 for home renovation.

After “completion” of the renovation and turning over of keys, Dan broke in without permission and stole all kitchen appliances that had been billed and paid for.

Dan turned over the keys more than three months after the expected completion date which caused several thousands of dollars in carrying costs to incur.

Dan failed to supervise the renovation which resulted in incredibly poor craftsmanship from subcontractors: incorrect measurements resulting in uneven walls and cabinets, poorly grouted and damaged tile from grout and paint stains, damaged and stained wood flooring from sloppy painting, and unfinished paint on walls, cabinets, and trim.

Architectural blue prints were not followed resulting in incorrect placement of electrical outlets and electrical switches.

Floorpan tile in master shower must be redone due to incorrect tile placement causing water not to drain.

Dan Kennedy acquired Avenue B Development in early 2018 so any reviews prior to 2018 are not indicative of present performance.

I hired Dan Kennedy to renovate my home which is still not finished. I have had to hire subcontractors to finish what was not completed and repair mistakes from poor project management and craftsmanship. I was double billed and had subcontractors come to my home requesting to be paid because Dan did not pay them for work I was invoiced for and paid in full.

I worked with Dan while he was still under the Kennedy Construction label to do a full interior remodel of a home. Dan was pleasant to work with at first and was very available at start of construction and through the early stages of the project. However, this was not consistent throughout the course of the project and led to serious frustration, breakdown in communication (from him) and ultimately an unpleasant experience working with him.

As the project went along, I challenged him on a few concerns with construction (electrical work that did not match architectural drawings, double billings or billings for other projects, faulty cabinetry work, etc.) he became defensive and the relationship turned.

We got to a point where I had several billing discrepancies which ultimately turned into a stalemate. Instead of working through them in business fashion, Dan went quiet, threatened access to our house and ultimately turned the house over without completing a very long list of punch work. The most frustrating part about the punch experience with Dan is that he did not account for items I felt were faulty. He made his own list of punch items and told me this is all he needed to do to be considered complete. To make matters worse, he did not even complete his own list, not to mention the additional list I wanted him to address.

After several days of going quiet and after he had formally turned over keys to the house, I came home one day after work to find appliances that had been paid for and installed stolen from the home. This was unprofessional and terrible business practice. I had paid every dollar billed and receipted to date, the costs he held over my head were fake and or not connected to my project. I was forced to hire another handyman/contractor to complete the punch work on our home and then forced to pursue legal action after having somebody enter my home without permission to hold my appliances hostage. It was immature, unprofessional and at end of the day a huge waste of time.
