"My recent experience at the Back 40 was nothing short of a disaster. The pretzels were so overcooked they were practically inedible. The salad was a joke – it was barely a full portion, and the wings were bland and flavorless. As for the "bean dip," it was a tiny, unimpressive serving that looked more like a side dish than a main course. The entire meal felt like a rip-off, especially considering the prices. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this place. If it wasn't literally 24 hours since I ate last I would of sent the food back..on top of that you order and pay for your food first..the pretzels were beyond cooked. The pictures speak for themselves..the salad had very litter chicken for a 4 dollar upcharge. The previous favorable reviews have to be fake. No one was eating here only drinking so they must know the food sucks too. I will never come here again..this is the second worst place in gadsden...PERIOD..

Back Forty Beer Co seems to be on the fringe of downtown Gadsden, Al in what appears to be an old warehouse. It's a decently cool and trendy place with a sizable brewing operation. I stopped in for dinner and to try a local beer and my experience was positive. The coffee stout is made with a local coffee co cold brew, so that's pretty cool to see local companies support other locals. I also ordered the smoked reuben sandwich, and it was pretty good. I didn't taste much smoke, but that did not detract from the overall quality of the sandwich.

The brewery has a nice outdoor setup with chairs, tables, and a stage for what I'm guessing is local music. It's a nice setting for a relaxing evening, I'm sure.

They have made some nice changes since I was last here 6 years ago. The deck/ patio is very nice along with the outside stage and cornhole area. The inside has an extra area for seating where you can view the beer vats and still be up at the bar or on seats. For the beers on tap, they seemed to have expand the selection and the food choices have become more pleasant as well.

They have remodeled this entire area inside and out. Very nice place to have a beer and some food. Live music and several TV for football. Bama mosa, and trucks top are 2 of my favorite craft beers. Great brewery.

This place has really gone down hill. Beer is ok, food is awful. Had smoked chicken nachos the chicken was cold ground chicken. Not sure how one smokes ground chicken. Saturday night with a band and the place is empty. We both got sick last time we ate here thought it was coincidence but after this meal I am guessing not.

That's two shots. Tell you what you tell me how you smoke ground chicken and I'll pull the review. I'm sure someone can make that distinction unless the intent was disingenuous

Great brew pub with a chill atmosphere! There's a screened front porch with socially distanced seating for 50+ people, a grand room and bar, and a small lounge in the back that has a nice view of the commercial grade fermenters. It was pretty easy to get roped into the Bob Ross videos on continuous play in the back lounge. One of their signature craft brews is the Freckled Belly IPA. The Devil's Staircase is popular but a bit light for my bitter-loving tastes. If you want strong but delightful, thumbs up to the House Double at 9.5%. They also offer a short menu - few BBQ sandwich was a tangy and sweet (slightly more Texas than AL style). A+ all around!
