Stopped by Bashas’ Chinle, AZ while passing through the area. The store does offer a decent variety of ready-made food options, which can be a real help for travelers looking for a quick bite without stopping at a full-service restaurant. There’s also a good selection of groceries and essentials, making it convenient for a basic stock-up.

However, there are several areas that definitely need attention. The fruit section, while stocked with whole produce, unfortunately did not have any pre-cut fruit options—which would’ve been nice for travelers or those looking for grab-and-go healthy snacks. It’s a small detail, but one that makes a difference.

The biggest issue I noticed was the organization and layout near the checkout area. It was quite crowded, with people standing around in a disorganized manner, and there didn’t seem to be any clear direction or flow. It felt chaotic and stressful, especially during busy hours.

But by far the most disappointing aspect was the restroom. It was in very poor condition—dirty, unpleasant, and clearly not maintained regularly. For a store that likely sees many tourists and locals alike, keeping the restrooms clean should be a basic standard.

Overall, Bashas’ has the potential to be a great pit stop, but the management really needs to work on improving the store’s cleanliness and crowd management. A little attention to detail could go a long way in enhancing the shopping experience for everyone

I shop here because it's the only place in town and the next closest place is a 35 minute drive. Be ready for a parking lot full of shopping carts places in random parking spots, because there's only one cart corral and most people are too lazy to do anymore than set their cart in front of their car as they leave. Then as soon as you get out of your car plan on being assaulted by panhandlers. Once inside you of course will not find any shopping carts, because as you will remember they are all outside, strategically placed. Once inside the store, to your left you find a "deli" that serves all types of food as long as all you want is chicken. The staff haven't figured out if the line forms to the left or the right. The Bakery is well stocked, which is unfortunate for a community that suffers greatly from diabetes. The one thing this Bashas has going for it is a decent produce area. The rest of the place is just a bunch of snacks, chips, soda, and fatty this and that. The real fun begins when you head to check out, four check out stations and never more than one staffed. Self check out is even worse with slow scanning technology and every item weighed in the bagging area you will constantly need an employee to run interference for you.
Plan on a nap after you make your quick run for groceries, you'll need it

Deli cashers are to rude, I just came back from there and the cashier was rude he was saying stuff back to and he went to the other coworker and started saying something as I was leaving and they both started laughing, so I reported them, I hope they are not like that to the elders. They shouldn’t be working in a place like that, if they don’t have good customer service.

It's the only grocery store in the area so I think you get what you get. It was very busy probably because it's the only store. The store was clean and had decent selection. Some of the reviews from white people on here are so ridiculous, at no point did I feel people were being standoffish or overly staring at me. My King Soopers card worked at checkout to get the discounts, just FYI for anyone coming from out of town 🙂

It's a pretty nice store with a good selection. I spent a half-hour shopping and picked up several things marked with sale prices. Then when I checked out, the cashier charged full price for everything...like maybe 1 1/2 times the sale prices. I asked him about it and he said I had to have a discount card to qualify for the sale price, even though there was no indication of any such on the sale tags or displays. I offered to sign up for a card and he said, "We don't just give those out. You have to register and sign up online." I finally just told him he could keep the groceries and walked out.
