Still a lot of snow but beautiful views for the first portion we were able to hike. Dogs had a BLAST. Definitely not an easy hike, although likely not quite as hard without snow. Will be back to complete the trail in its entirety after it all melts!

Beautiful hike. Steady elevation gain but it is at high elevation so if youโ€™re not use to the higher elevation I would recommend getting acclimated. We did the chocolate lake loop. Busy trial but didnโ€™t encounter too many people on the loop. Most did the bishop pass. Some sections of the trail does get lost. The AllTrails app did helped.

One of the most beautiful passes along the Inyo Wilderness and Sierra Nevada. Be sure to hike to the top, at 12000 feet the views are stunning. Plan for at least a full day, up and down and to enjoy the vistas. Fair amount of mountain hiking experience recommend. Sierra shuttle is a great way to get to and from the trailhead from Bishop (bus station on Warren Street).

Cool area and not a very hard pass to get up. I believe the pass is right under 12k in elevation. Beautiful lakes all over the place. Good fishing, great hiking, some small little mtn resorts with cabins right down the hill. Make sure you have your fishing license and if you are going hiking your hiking permits! Don't forget your bear canister if you ate Hong out on a overnight trip.

Great hike. My wife and I with two kids under five did this hike 45 years ago. I am 75 years old now and was curious to see how much change has taken place. Wow, the lower lake does not exist and the second lake is no more than a small pond. I may be wrong but I think the second lake is Green Lake.

The lake is still frozen in the middle of April, 90% of the trail covered with the snow. Last 1 mile of the road is โ€œClosedโ€, but you still can use it. Stunning views and very nice place for camping, hiking and enjoing the nature๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ”
