6 months on the farm. I only wanted more!! I came knowing nothing about a farm or livestock.. But I had a hunger for learning of a self sufficient life style and the state of Alaska was always on my mind. I now sit here 6 months later and know how to from life to death care for turkeys, layer ducks and chickens, geese, sheep, and pigs! I also gained a great amount of information on the garden, building chicken tractors, the aquaponics system, tree plantings, metal work & pig hutch building, composting, observing weekly business meetings, access to bookshelves of information, AND SO MUCH MORE! The daily hands on with the animals, and eating farm to table every single day, is truly a one of a kind experience. The group who have put their blood, sweat, and tears into this farm are truly incredible people and have one of a kind systems built. They treated my family as family from day one. Never hesitated to give time off when needed. What an incredible opportunity!!! Thank you Blood, Sweat, Food Farms for the opportunity for internship!!
