Just wrapped up a fantastic experience with this team. They not only helped us build our dream fence to help shield the *very tall* utility easement on our property from view, but also helped us with a trash hideaway, fixing a play set, and using our recycled materials to create a garden bridge. They also helped educate us about when staining needed to be done given the materials they were using and are referring us to someone who can do staining once it is ready. While they were booked out a bit in advance, it was well worth the wait.

What was my favorite thing about working with this team? They were good communicators who really listened and who also brought helpful ideas to our projects.

First, They helped us take out existing, entrenched fence posts and took great care to work with the city and local utilities in the area. As they were placing horizontal boards they double-checked with us to see how it was coming together, allowing us to adjust how the fence looked and make sure boards were on the right side of the easement. They made a suggestion to the fence's entryway that not only looked great but also created a perfect area for bench seating. When we realized how high the entryway was going to be Jacob was great about brainstorming solutions with us. There was a slight miscommunication at one point, but Jacob worked with me to help fix the problem, come up with solutions, and make it right.

When it came to the trash hideaway, they suggested a more adaptable approach for the foundation (deck blocks instead of piers) that future owners can remove more easily if they want to AND a small light that can help us see when we take the trash out at night. Our neighbors came over and were so impressed they were asking for quotes and recommendations.

They also did a beautiful job on our pond bridge using recycled materials we already had on site, which was important to me.

When they fixed our kids swing set they made suggestions that were more effective in securing the base to the ground than what I had assumed needed to be done. They also helped me come up with a solution for the old "shop" section of the playset that needed new seating. Heck Jacob even figured out how to adjust the height our aging basketball hoop that we assumed was stuck tight.

Again, overall very happy with this team both in the ways they took what I wanted seriously while also making suggestions that took this project to the next level. Am already recommending them to friends and neighbors and will reach out to them for any future fencing or decking needs.

Jacob and his team at Burkett Residential brought our vision to life. Our twenty year old deck needed a total overhaul. They took our drawings and created a beautiful cedar deck to enjoy for decades. They worked during the coldest parts of January and didn’t make a fuss. We’re looking forward to adding a shade sail for protection from the sun and new furniture. 1st of all I love my new fence! Jacob and his team were professional and did an amazing job. It looks just like I imagined it. I wanted a 4 ft picket style for the front that transitions to a 6 ft privacy in the back. I also wanted the 4 ft to gradually go to the 6 ft and it looks beautiful. They did not disappoint! Highly recommend.

I was referred to Burkett Residential LLC from an old coworker and friend who had nothing but wonderful things to say about Jacob and his team. We needed to replace our deck, and even though we were outside Lawrence, Jacob was willing to come out to South KC for the job. In our initial meeting, Jacob walked us through the entire process, provided options and guided us through decisions. We opted to do the demo ourselves, but Jacob and his team helped clean up a last few things we were unable to take care of.

In addition to the direct referral, my wife and I had seen all the work on Burkett Residential's social media pages, so we knew the work was going to be high quality. When Jacob and Brian arrived on site for the project, they got to work right away and continued to communicate each step of the process. We were consistently in the loop with Jacob, which kept us at ease.

Jacob and Brian (and Sterling on the final day) worked through some unfortunate conditions, as KC was experiencing temps in the 90s, but Jacob made sure he and his crew were getting the job done while also taking care of themselves.

Aside from the high quality work, Jacob also was flexible and willing to cater to our needs. We asked for a gate, and when the initial design didn't match our expectations, he adjusted and gave us the deck we wanted. He always focused on giving us the best deck for us!

Even with the hot weather, Jacob and co. finished a day ahead of schedule, which allowed us (and our dogs) to enjoy the deck sooner than expected! For the quality of the work, and the level of service, it feels like a bit of steal at the price. Nothing but positives for Jacob and the entire Burkett Residential team!

Jacob and his team did an amazing job on our deck. They stained the existing deck (before picture included), installed a pergola, and built a privacy wall. It doesn’t even look like the same space, and is our new favorite place to hang out. All around great to work with. We’ve already hired them for more work and can’t wait to have them back!
