I recently used Charter Oak Scanning to convert 16 VHS tapes to a flash drive. The oldest tape was from 1989 and most of the others were all from the early 90s. The quality is excellent and they were even able to fix two old tapes that wouldn't play in my VCR. The turnaround time was less than 2 weeks when they delivered them to me. I will definitely be back once I go through more!

Having just picked up an order from Charter Oak Scanning about an hour ago, I am very impressed with Robert and his team. The rates are reasonable as is the turn around time, and the quality with which my film and tapes were scanned is excellent. Unbeknownst to my family, the 8mm film contained video of my aunt- who passed just about a month ago- as a young woman. My family has used Charter Oak for scanning services on 3 occasions and I cannot say enough good things about them. They make pickup and drop-off extremely easy. They actively communicate throughout the process to make sure they scan what you want the way you want. They are a local company, but prices are better than anything I could find online. They handled all types of media for us (slides, photos, mini-vhs, documents) and now our memories are forever preserved!

A friendly independent locally owned business. Love that. You deal directly with the owner Robert a lovely British chap. Was happy to find Charter Oak. The only knock was they destroyed my parents 1961 wedding album. I brought it back and they patched it up but it is permanently damaged. The thing is they returned it without saying a word with a ruined binding missing the leather piece that held it together. Of course I brought it back but that piece was never found in their studio. It was a beautiful album in perfect condition, a real keepsake. I should have just shot the album myself. The boxes of loose photos and the old albums I gave them were done perfectly fine and were worth doing with them. However, the beautiful keepsake wedding album was irreplaceable and I should have known better than to trust it to anyone to take apart and put back together. (BTW, they don't really put anything back the way it was, but some things don't matter and some things do. Keep that in mind.). Sorry Robert, you are a lovely man, your business is needed and you do a worthwhile service, but this is the truth. We should all be thoughtful about handing over things we consider precious to anybody.
