This is THE best place for the highest quality meats you will find in Fairfield county. It has the feel of an old school butcher shop, in a good way. Their meatballs are insane, so look for those in their freezers. Their dry-aged burgers are also amazing.

I never ever write bad reviews but I am very frustrated with my first and LAST purchase from custom meats!! I purchased 4 lbs of ground beef and a 16oz steak from them on a Wednesday night. I cooked up the beef and it was great!! 2 days later I went to cook up the steak I had purchased and it had turned brown and had a stench to it. I decided to call custom meats to see what they could do for me as FRESH meat should not go bad in the fridge after 2 days… The woman I spoke with kept stating that it must’ve been my wrongdoing and I must’ve left it out. I live 15 minutes from this store and the meat went right into the fridge, in the original packaging as soon as I got home. The woman I spoke with told me they would not refund me or give me a new cut of steak even though I was willing to bring the cut back to them so they could take a look. I also took pictures that I will attach below for anyone reading this review to see. It’s very obvious that this meat had been sitting out…I’m very disappointed in the customer service I received and will make sure to share the experience I’ve had with all of my fresh meat buying friends!

Inquired about beef tendons. Told price over the phone of 9.99/lb. Get there, charged me 12.99/lb and wasn’t even the right cut. Somehow food bazarr and every asian grocery knows how to prepare beef tendons but not custom meats. Not sure how to prepare this now bc the tendons take hours to do right but the red meat covering them, which isnt supposed to be there, leaves me not sure what to do.

Custom Meats is simply the best for high quality meat! Do you long for a chicken breast that is not from a giant bird with stretch marks that could feed a family of four. You will find beautiful chicken breasts at reasonable sizes at Custom Meats. The selection is great and if you want something special just let the team know!

Custom Meats is simply the very best!! Such fabulous quality of all their meat, and I’m always trying new cuts of meat that I didn’t know about! The owner comes up with some really yummy sausages, and takes such care in every cut! I don’t go anywhere else for all my meat needs.

**if you want something specific, call before you head in—they are so accommodating! 😊

Bought 1 ribeye which came out to $65 ($45 a pound).

Cooked it on grill and pulled it at 120 degrees then rested 10 minutes.

Toughest, chewiest, and unfortunately most expensive steak I’ve gotten from a butcher. Had significantly better steaks from Whole Foods/Stew Leonard’s for way less.

Wouldn’t recommend going here and paying the exorbitant prices for a sub-par steak.

I had a poor experience with the butcher today. He doesn’t embody good customer relationship skills and was quite rude. I too lost my temper, but only for his rudeness. His staff tried to be helpful but the order I made and the order they prepared didn’t match and was useless for my menu for Thanksgiving. Thankfully I was able to get what I needed from Whole Foods. Never again Custom Meats. You’ve let a customer.

I am doing Custom Meats a favor by giving a one (1) star. Because it’s negligible to serve great quality of meats with incredibly awful customer service orientation. It’s negligible if you serve great quality of meat without even greeting a customer that walks in, with zero (0!!!) positive energy, no positive welcoming vibe, and no smile on your face.
If you’re looking for the full package— GREAT customer service AND great meat— go to Old Greenwich or Darien Butcher Shop. High quality of meats and great customer service orientation!
Custom Meats management— you may want to consider some staff refreshment.
