We just completed a major project at our home in Morro Bay. The project entailed the complete removal of the old cedar shingle siding and replacing it with Hardie lap siding, trim and paint. We also had several windows and a sliding door replaced. While selecting a contractor it’s always stressful but Dave at DH Construction made the process simple. We received four bids and DH’s was the first one completed and was exactly what we asked for. The others changed our specifications to inferior products or changed the design altogether. Surprisingly DH’s underbid the other contractors by thousands of dollars. More importantly DH was able to start the project months earlier than the others. Dave kept us informed during the entire process and was wonderful to work with. I received several compliments from our neighbors on his crews efficiency and courtesy. We couldn’t be more happy with DH’s attention to details and the finished product. As you can tell, we can’t say enough nice things to say about DH Construction and would highly recommend them to those looking for a first rate contractor for their project.

We hired DH Construction (Dave) to build our second-story room addition. He and his crew did a wonderful job and we love how our addition turned out. Dave is honest, professional, and hard-working as are his crew. He worked well with the city regarding permits, etc., and doesn't try to take shortcuts. He and/or his crew were at our house working almost every day (weather permitting and availability of supplies) - he did not disappear from the job like you hear some contractors do when they have a bigger project come up. He is responsive to any questions/concerns you may have and will discuss options, give recommendations, and truly listen to you. I'm reading the 5 Star reviews and see how a person could be misled. The following is my experience.
DH Construction submitted a low bid. I was told the work could be done without being inspected to reduce cost (red flag). A trench was opened to install an underground electric service (see photo). The trench remained open for months while attention was on jobs that were undertaken after this job had begun. I lost track of the number of times DH Construction failed the electric inspection. I did the work necessary to pass the inspection (see photo). There were "change orders" that I believe were a result of not knowing the work. I would advise to be specific in writing the contract. I also expect DH Construction's explanation for this failure is the fault of the customer.

We hired Dave to build an art studio on our property. The experience was surprisingly easy. While all projects include the “unexpected “, Dave handled everything with calm professionalism. Most importantly, he was alway available by phone and text. He and his subs showed up as scheduled and kept the job site tidy. I recommend DH Construction for your building needs.

Dave and his crew did a bathroom remodel for us. He was extremely professional, always on time, and kept in touch with when subs would be there etc. We, of course, ran into unexpected issues and everything was handled without feeling the pressure of the issues.
