No longer any road access from Soledad Cyn as the Bee Box Canyon Ranch and film business is there. They’ve fenced/cross fenced all potential access and posted no trespassing signs all over. The only way in is to bushwhack from the south hill next to it and there is no trail. Steep and lots of loose rock and sand so not advisable unless you’re an extreme hiker.

Sad but a sign of urban sprawl and selfishness.

5 star for the hike/view still but to mirror Jake’s review - DO NOT enter adit #1. Adit #2 must be about a foot shorter than it was less than a decade ago, despite heavier sledging. Please remember this is not a maintained public park. The portal slippage on #2 can easily kill someone. DO NOT SLEDGE INTO THE RIBS! That is what is keeping you alive! If you do not pay for emergency satellite service, there is no phone service in the entire canyon. Be smart!

This is my first time not entering the mines. It is clear many novices have made their way inside in recent years and are tapping into unsafe rib/ceiling areas. #1 and #2 are looking extremely dangerous (1) and getting seriously rough (2). Cannot speak for other portal areas as I had moved on.

The main entrance is in... OK shape. The other one where you have to crawl is EXTROADINARLY DANGEROUS. Just a bit of somewhat loose compacted dirt and rocks holding it up. It has gotten narrower since the pictures on google were taken. I went through it and there was a dead animal that had to be moved to the side a couple feet in. If you do decide to go in that route, don't attempt to chisel any ore pockets. I tried that and the walls shook heavily with every sledge blow. That side is just itching to collapse on someone. There's passable collapses inside both sides of the mine. Some decent copper ore specimens can be found outside the mine, as well as nice felspar crystals and blue banded agate. Stick to the outside area... stay alive.

Very tranquil... I took my son we loved every bit of it...not too far off of the road... Very steep right before the mine entrances but it was great... I will be going back

Super cool, not far off the road. Second shaft is currently open wide enough for an easy crawl in.
