(Short notes: no restrooms, no picnic area, definitely trek not a train, and plan around the weather.)

We drove about 2 hours to visit, it was indeed very beautiful. After looking at other reviews it seems the best time to visit is after a very heavy rain, today in particular it wasn’t flowing much. But enough to definitely enjoy the water and sit in the falls. The only downside is the walk to the waterfall from the parking lot. The train wasn’t exactly the easiest due to us wanting to bring a cooler with drinks and lunch. It was extremely narrow and steep in some spots so having to carry anything with you could be a challenge. Wear real shoes for the short hike and river shoes if you plan on getting in the water. Beware of copperheads in the water there was definitely quite a few in the deeper pools. But overall we were all very happy we got to experience this adventure and being able to see all the amazing geology. There’s also a small natural spring and quite a few mulberry trees. Not sure if I would make the drive a second time but it’s by far a destination you have to see at least once.

Been coming here for years! The trail is a little washed out in some areas, but worth the trek. Bring real shoes slippery in some spots. Love the place, will always come back!

Nice clean refreshing place to spend a few hours or more to just unwind. Really pretty kid friendly too. Nice little pool at the bottom they can play in. The water is only about knee deep and isn't moving too fast. The access path is a little steep in a few spots but definitely managable, even with littles ones.

This was a fun time out for the family. There were some mildly challenging hiking trails and the kids had fun playing in the clay at the bottom of the "waterfall" (we came during dry season). The dogs had fun swimming in the lake. I don't think there were any restrooms, which could cut your day here short.

I've written reviews for quite a few state fishing lakes and I have a specific need so bear with me. Right out of the gate I'll say this is a great lake for launching a boat, fishing the whole day, and heading home. Outside of that it's not great. Decent camp area at your first left upon south side entrance but that's it. Hardly any decent lake access as most of it is very steep and cliffy around the border. Also be mindful of the junction city mutants that tend to creep in during the night for illicit activities and carry large Rambo knives. If you're a car camper skip this one.

Edit: forgot to mention that although it helped me sleep personally, the lake is right on 77 and the traffic noise is non stop.

You definitely have to go after a really good rain. But it's so beautiful and great for hiking. I'm not sure how the fish are biting but it's pretty calm and quiet for fishing. Great views. I met people that drove over 2 hours away just to see the waterfall. It's definitely worth it.

Easy to find. Easy to walk. Cool waterfall location. Not much water, but still cool to see.

I personally loved it. So peaceful to camp. I'd say my only complaint is people leaving trash. Otherwise it's now one of my favorite places to be.
