If you didn't read the directions and/or the construction is confusing, you want to enter via the door to the right of the construction area. There aren't signs that tell you there's a global entry place here, but if you see the metal detectors - you're probably in the right place.

You'll be directed to a seated waiting area.

They will grab a group of people to go upstairs, do their thing, then everyone comes down together. 20min.

Noticed that agents vary from stoic to friendly. They're there to do a job, not to entertain. No one was mean or given an attitude. It is an open space interview. Everything can be heard but it seems like everyone was minding their own business.

All of the negative reviews could be resolved with a single sign. It's not clear what you're supposed to do, but it's an easy process.

1. Enter to the right of the main entrance.
2. Go through a metal detector.
3. Sit in a small vestibule.
4. Wait. I waited about 30 minutes.
5. Someone comes downstairs and takes people up in a group of 10 or so at a time. They will call people up by appointment times. Give them your passport, then wait in a new line.
6. The batch of people go upstairs in the elevator.
7. Sit in a waiting room with these people. Your name will be called.
8. Go to the agent, answer two or three questions. Get your photo taken, give your fingerprints via a digital touchpad, no ink.
9. Return to the waiting room.
10. Once everyone has been seen, the whole group goes down the elevator.
11. Leave and wait "two weeks" for your card in the mail.

Exactly what you would expect. All the high school and below educated staff would be unable to comprehend your English/vocabulary.
They would use their authority in this agency to speak over you. Clearly unable to perform their given job description or role as a public service employee. Staff is unprepared and is unable to provide any assistance. Shows incompetence to avoid any work related issues/problems.

I left my newborn baby to come here to change my name on global entry following the directions noted everywhere that no appointment is needed for a name change. The global entry section is a bench in the lobby of the museum and an insanely rude guard happily informed me that regardless of this information being accurate for every other location, you need an appointment for a name change here because it’s a historic site () and i could come back in July. Save yourself the time and don’t come here

The whole process for Global entry at the Bowling Green location was pretty quick, so that's good. Now why the three stars? Well, the security who escorted us to the 4th floor, walking ahead of all of us to lead us to the way started giving us instructions while he was walking, oblivious to the fact that the people were walking behind him, at least the ones who were behind the 8-9 people may not hear properly anything that's being said. So as is the case, I had no idea what he said.

Next, at the interview, I sat on a chair in front of a glass screen for my finger print and photo. The officer was nice in his demeanor. After verifying my my personal info (address, email, etc.) he went on to ask me if I was arrested. I said "yes," and stated that the charge was dismissed. (I stated this in the application and also brought the piece of paper that reflected the dismissed charge). Around the same time, another global entry candidate was called on the window next to mine and she was asked the same question by the other officer: Have you been arrested?

Not one officer who did the interview was mindful to our privacy. So what happened to our sense of privacy and dignity? You would expect them to have common sense as well as training on interview skills, which adheres to fundamental human rights to privacy, dignity, and respect about our personal info. And that's not just about whether a person had been arrested but the entire compass of personal info: address, birth date, email and so on. And it becomes even more important for a Bangladeshi woman, a woman of color, like me due to the endless sorts of intersecting issues that tries to nullify our sense of dignity.

Under no circumstances should these fundamental rights to privacy be violated for anyone of any race, color, ethnicity, ability or disability. Rights to privacy is an unequivocal right.

I was told that I would receive the card in about two weeks. I asked if I may go now. He said that I would need to go back to that waiting room. Not sure why. I suspect that's what the security was telling us---something to do with waiting in this room. I started wondering if I would be called back for something or if the process is finished. This specific confusion could have been avoided by a security who was aware of the fact that his instructions are coming off muffled to the people who are walking behind him. I still have no idea whether whatever instruction he gave us has any connection to the whole process or not.

But the three stars is for the ill-regard of basic human dignity which was not given to me. I'll not recommend this place for that reason. I had posted this review in Yelp as well.

Not sure why the poor ratings for this location. Made a TTP (Trusted Traveler Program) account online and then scheduled an appointment. No need to call, everything was done online. If you refresh the appointment page sometimes you'll snag a much earlier appointment date due to last minute cancellations/changes, which happened to me. Got an appointment a few weeks out instead of months.

The entrance to GE is the door on ground level to the right of the big main entrance stairs. It is labeled and looks like part of the museum. The security people were nice and it was a breeze. I arrived one hour prior to my appointment and they still took me. I was in and out in 15 minutes. They were professional, efficient, and zero complaints about the entire process.

Lower your expectations and you will not be disappointed. You go through the building's security. Its the usual NYC security theater. 3 guys chatting behind the x-ray machines shouting at you, and more interesting in discussing their social lives. You wait in the lobby of the museum until someone from DHS come down the elevator to get you. It could be 10 min or an hour. When you are taken up, you wait in a small room as they go through the interview process for everyone. The actual interview is just a few minutes. All the time is waiting for an understaffed office being forced to interview too many people. They are pleasant and efficient given what they have to do. In summary DHS created the problem at immigration, so created a program to reduce the chaos for a price, then created a unpleasant process for both passengers and DHS employees.

After calling the NY global entry # on 7/31 and getting my name change appointment, I was told be here at 7:45am on 10/4 with my new passport (no email confirmation) — did just that and the process was super smooth! Was done by 8am. It’s the museum entrance to the right if you’re facing the big staircase.
