2nd Update.....I'm 30 fires in and I love this thing. Not sure i have ever been more satisfied with a purchase. It is an amazing product. It burns less wood and puts out more heat. It's truly a 'just leave it alone' fire. I'm used to poking and prodding. Sometimes if it is quiet you can hear the fire just take off!.... Love it!!!!

UPDATE: So I am three fires in and I could not be happier. If you build the fire the way they suggest, it will start and burn amazingly well. You know the feeling when you buy something more expensive and then use it a couple times and you realize that the extra money spent was totally worth it. That's how I feel. This is a quality product that works!!!!!!

My full review to follow but I was so blown away by the service and shipping that I had to post my initial thoughts while still fresh. I tend to really research things before I make a big purchase. I did alot of research and found these guys online. Wow!! WOW!!! I'm so glad I lucked into finding them. The info and the help in making my decision was fantastic. Pretty sure that I was dealing with owner every single time. Phone calls and emails were always answered and there were several.

Now, this is not inexpensive stuff. I looked at alot of grates and this was by far the upper end of all items viewed. I went for an M-7 with upgraded bars and the super duty reflective fireback. They are not kidding when they warn of heaviness of fireback. It's almost unbelievable how heavy this hunk of metal is. I got it inside with help from my UPS guy. I got it unboxed but until I get a buddy over to help it will not be touched.

So, people online mentioned the shipping. I ordered on a Monday afternoon and both items were here on Wednesday!! (I'm probably in their same zone but that's ridiculously fast!....thought the upgraded bars on grate was a custom item)

Yes, I know that I didn't take packaging off. I was excited to make sure it fit!!!! I have a large fireplace but this grate is a beast!!!!

We built a new house with a beautiful 50” wood burning fireplace as the centerpiece of our large great room. We have constantly battled drafting air properly and constantly smoke in the room. We tried so hard to keep the fire in the back of the box that rear refractory panel began to breakdown prematurely which is how we found Grate Wall of Fire.

We purchased a 31” RF-7 fireback panel which solved our refractory panel issue then discovered the TR-7 Grate - INCREDIBLE!!! That’s how well these two purchases have been from the moment I put them in. The fire starts in moments and not a single puff of smoke has leaked into our room!

I can’t tell you what a difference these products have made to our dream house, THANK YOU Grate Wall of Fire!!!

Bought grate backplate about 10 years ago. Added the decorations about 2 years ago. Burn about 3 cords a year. Still looks close to new. But for me it’s been the safety of not having to worry about logs rolling out. Stacking the logs to burn has also cut down on wood usage. Once you get the hang of it you will have more control of your fire. That 1 inch grate may seem pricey but 24 hours later it still has some heat. Perfect for letting fire die to close flue. Don’t think I will ever have to buy another. Protects back brick wall from excessive heat damage which can lead to expensive repairs. Ohhh that poker in front is untouchable with fire cooking. Bleeping hot. Need a 6th star for this one. Thank You Great Wall of Fire for putting an above expected quality product out there.

Must have a fireback with the grate and it is very technique sensitive. This greatly improved the efficiency of my fireplace. It is not an insert replacement. It does look much better. My wife enjoys the romance of the fireplace too much to get an insert.

We have 2 of them, they are the finest quality grates ever!! We have never enjoyed the fireplaces as much as we do now, no more stoking the fire, self feeds and puts out tremendous heat!!!! Nothing else even comes close!

Running my own business I only hope my employees are as capable as those I've met at Grate Wall of Fire.
The large Rumsford grate is truly high quality as is the backing plate. Unfortunately the finials in my case didn't work out, my own fault for choosing the incorrect ones.
They helped with the return and I've decided to purchase a second grate for a new fireplace in the basement family room.
I can't say enough good things about the product or the people!

I purchased the 26" wide backplate and matching grate. Fits beautifully, works very well and I also love being able to stoke the fire much easier than a traditional grate. Was a little hesitant due to price but you truly do get what you pay for. Someone recommended a back plate because of older brick and must say being able to use the fireplace again after a year is priceless. Merry Christmas 🎅🎅🎅

The grate and backing are well worth the money! Quality craftsmanship and they work amazingly well! Fires start quick and stay hot. Easy to tend and the backing sends heat out into our large living room. I am so glad to have purchased these!
