You need to get your tickets before you come up the mountain. Because they do not have a ticket both up top yet, but one is being built. I wouldn't bother coming up early because there is nothing else besides a snack shop, a souvenir shop and a crackling for up top.

As for the tour, it was alright. It's the normal "To the left you see trees to the right you see trees" type tour. It lasted about 45 minutes. The guide was entertaining but the subject matter was dry and not very engaging. The cost of the tour is silly high and I would not suggest it.

If you're up for a hike in bear territory though hit the same trail, go for a nature walk and save $80 per person.

This is a nice leisurely one mile walk and a good way to stretch your legs if you're coming from a cruise ship. You do have to wait a few minutes for enough people to assemble such that a guide can take you along the trail. The guide is necessary for any bear encounter but is also very helpful in explaining things about the site and vegetation along the trail.
