Higgie's Food & Ice Cream - Higganum, Connecticut

This was my first visit here since living in Higganum for the past year.

11:30 a.m. on a Thursday in the temperature is in the mid 60s.

Extremely kind service and with three people ahead of me, my order was ready within 10 minutes.

I ordered the 8-piece jumbo shrimp which came with fries and coleslaw. Tartar sauce, lemon and ketchup. $20.

I also ordered a small mint chocolate chip cup, ice cream is made by Gifford's out of Maine.

The parking lot was pretty full and I will say pulling in and out can be a challenge, especially when it's busy.

I was very happy with everything and I will be back. 😋

I love Higgies!!! Great food for a great, affordable price! I always bring my friends who are visiting from out of state here and they love it. Lately they’ve been closed during hours it says they’re supposed to be open. Hope everything is okay with them. Would be so sad if they closed for good.

Wow!! Amazing clams that are perfectly fried with fantastic french fries. Service was top notch and the servers were very nice. They had just opened for the season so every one was in a positive mood. The food was pricey, but it was totally worth it! I will definitely come back here some time! Great service!

Higgies is a staple of the warmer seasons. There isn't much for a view while you eat, but it's a fantastic little drive-in. If you're craving a foot long hotdog (chilli cheese is great) and a root beer float. This is the spot in the area. I visit regularly for just that reason, and it's a "go-to" spot for a quick lunch when heading out on a motorcycle ride. The line in the evenings can get long for ice cream and the parking area is pretty small, so be mindful pulling in and out.

Myself and my partner have frequented Higgies forever. It's a wonderful place to stop for lunch or a yummy ice cream.We however can't seem to ever get anything else but their delicious foot long hot dogs and incredible french fries. They have nice umbrella'ed picnic tables and beautiful shade trees. We were lucky enough to be there at high noon and were able to to listen to (recorded) church bells tolling 12 times,then playing a hymn and the national anthem. It was truly an all American experience that we keep repeating every summer.

Roadside deliciousness. Fresh lemonade, great burgers and dogs. Yummy soft serve ice cream. Shaded picnic tables. Nice place to munch on a hot summer day.

First off we pulled in at a busy time ( lunch ) so we expected a bit of a wait.
I ordered a chili cheese dog, 10 inches, fries, a coke. The dog was excellent, fries were under cooked. Coke was standard fountain mix . Overall fairly priced..
Wife had fried clam strips. Came with fries, coleslaw and she ordered a coffee milk . Disappointed with her portion of the order given the price.
We'll stop again but will stick with the standard roadside stand fare. Hot dogs and hamburger.
