This is my twelfth year coming to this lodge. The enti
re crew is very knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of repeat clients are always willing to help first timers as well. Halibut and salmon fishing is great there's local fishing for all species of salmon. Accommodations, meals, gear, boats, etc are also great. Would strongly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable self- guided fishing trip

This is a self guided fishing lodge. Meaning you better have some pre-knowledge of fishing, tides, boat safety and equipment before booking. If you like the freedom of getting up and getting a line in the water all day w/o a fuss, your boat will be full of fuel and ready for you. It's your responsibility to check maps, the weather and tides.

They provide you with ample home cooked breakfasts, dinners and lunch meat (or leftovers if you prefer) for packed lunches. Just be sure to be back in time for the night they serve Dungeness crab for dinner.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and will help you with anything if you just ask. Including running into town if you need something from the store.

The lodge and sleeping quarters are older and rustic but clean and comfortable. The equipment is of good used quality and reliable. If you have any issues they will fix it or switch it out. We've been coming here for years and only 1 trip did we have an engine issue that was quickly taken care of.

They clean, wrap and deep freeze your catch daily with your assigned # so you bring home the exact fish you catch in 50lb airline ready boxes.

Island Point Lodge review ||My husband and I stayed at Island Point Lodge on the week of July 21-28th 2023. We had a great time! The location of the lodge was beautiful. Very picturesque. |We have quite a bit of fishing experience, but by no means are we experts.|The fishing guys were excellent. They gave us a lot of good advice on locations, and provided us with maps. They also gave us some helpful fishing technique tips. Super friendly bunch. |The fishing staff also gave us a good tutorial on the boat (equipment with GPS). Which ran flawlessly throughout the week. |Thank you! Colby, Billy, Buddy and Trent!||The kitchen staff was equally friendly, and the food was very good. Mostly home style meals (lasagna, tacos, ham steak, crab!etc). We had appetizers with dinner every night and the appetizers were excellent. Hot breakfast was provided every morning. The fridge was well stocked for snacking.|Thank you! Abby, Eddie and Lori!||As for the fishing, it was great. We caught lots of Silver and Pink Salmon. We also caught quite a bit of Halibut (our first time Halibut fishing). Brought home close to 200 lbs of fish. |Several Halibut over 100 lbs were caught by other guests during our stay. |They took care of the processing and packaging of our catches. It took us 36 hours to fly home (delays and transfers) and our fish was still frozen when we got home!|I would give Island Point Lodge a strong recommendation. We will definitely be going back!

We had a great time, the setting is amazing, the fish camp is what we expected, slightly rustic but perfect for what we were doing. Each little cabin has its own shower, beds, small fridge. Breakfast and dinners were solid and plenty of stuff to make lunches for the boat. Highly (recommend the covered boats. ). If we do it again, I’ll prob bring a couple of my reels. The ones they have are fine, they work, but if you have a good reel bring it and put on one of there poles. ( I like having a lever drag over old star drags). The staff is amazing. Very attentive.

The staff are all 100% professionals. The service provided to us was exceptional. The food was amazing. The living quarters were clean and comfortable. Island Point is the only lodge on the island with a dock. This is exceptionally nice for getting into and out of the boats. No wading through the mud and water. You can also have more fishing time as you won’t be waiting for the tide to float your boat. Our boat and gear preformed flawlessly. All we had to do was eat, fish and enjoy ourselves. The staff cooked our meals, cleaned, maintained and fueled our boat at the end of each day.
Our fish were cleaned and packaged for our return trip. Even with an overnight stopover on the way home our fish arrived still frozen.
We enjoyed our trip so much that we have already signed up for next year. The staff will give you all the advice you need to catch fish. If you don’t know something just ask anyone of the staff. If they don’t know the answer they will find someone that does.
We are already counting the days until our return to Island Point Lodge.

Expectations were high when I signed up for Island Point. Bottom line is they have the worst equipment I have ever seen and am surprised they haven't been sued or shutdown for safety violations. Boats were very poor, no fire extinguisher, props were all chewed up, the life jackets probably wouldn't float although I didn't try one. The lodge is old, sleeping quarters in the lodge were ridiculously poor with no where to store your clothes or equipment. Food was adequate to good although you would expect something more than tacos and burgers for the price paid. Don't believe what they write in their orientation package, its an exaggeration at best or applies to a previous owner perhaps. The fishing rods and reels were very poor and appear to not be maintained at all. They charge you for most everything other fishing lodges provide as part of the package. I wouldn't go back if they provided everything free including airfare! You would do just as well renting a room and boat in Petersburg and going on your own. This is clearly an operation for maximum profit with minimum to no investment! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! (Watch for more reviews-most all of the 33 people there felt the same way!)

I genuinely don't understand the low reviews here. I'm assuming they're from people that are used to chartered fishing trips where they don't even have to bait their own hooks. To be clear, this is a fairly remote fish camp/lodge, accessible only by boat and powered by generator. You get a real rustic self guided experience that also includes wifi (spotty at times), hot water, washing machines, TV, and plenty of food. If that's what you're looking for, that's what you'll find.

We had an excellent trip August 2021. The entire staff was great and attentive. I don't think we could have asked for more. The lodge is well appointed. The cabin was comfortable, but spartan. What you'd expect for a fish camp. Food was good and plentiful. Boats are older skiffs with fresh outboards. Some are missing amenities like rod holders for storage while traveling, but these are nice to have and don't make or break the trip. There are options for covered boats and better seats, but I appreciate the budget option for the more basic skiff. Provided equipment was decent and the staff was very interested in helping through any issues. Tap water in the camp is cistern sourced and discolored with a slight smell, but there is purified water in the lodge.

I had the benefit of ~40 years of Alaska fishing experience at this lodge to draw from on my first trip, which admittedly makes a difference. For a first timer without an experienced group, I would suggest a few things: boat seats that attach to the bench on skiffs, high quality rain gear and boots, a face shield to block wind and rain while moving, good rubber gloves with spares for when they get wet, and plan on fishing in the rain. Stick to well marked channels to avoid rocks, and pay attention to the weather forecast. Wear layers. We had swings from 50's to about 80 degrees and we're soaking wet one day and wearing sunblock and t-shirts the next day.
