I purchased my vehicle in Joplin, but I began using the service department at Jay Hatfield a year ago and have never looked back. The staff is amazing! Nick especially is extremely attentive and professional. As a woman it’s easy to feel somewhat patronized or pressured to buy extra services from mechanics. I have only felt like a valued and respected customer at this service department. Scheduling is easy and service is prompt. When I’ve had issues with my vehicle the staff has always explained the problem explicitly and ensured repairs were completed quickly. Prices are very reasonable and I’ve never been surprised by a higher-than-expected charge when I check out. I will likely purchase my next vehicle here solely based on the excellent customer service from Nick and the rest of the staff from Jay Hatfield’s service department!

I truly went back and forth on if I would leave a review, and ultimately decided to leave one.

I inquired about a 2021 GMC Yukon Denali with 74k miles on it. The list price on their site was $49k, which was not a bad deal. However, the drive to their location (from Manhattan) was over three hours. I was at first told they would deliver, but since I had an older high mileage truck (2011 Chev Silverado LT 175k miles) we had to drive it all the way there. All communication was done via text with Billy Holland.

I was advised of my monthly payments with no money down and they fit within my budget perfectly. The day I was driving down, Billy asked to call me and informed me (even after I clarified that it included taxes and fees) that it did not and it’d be an extra $3200. Frustrating, but appreciated being told before the drive down. We ultimately decided to move forward.

I was originally told via text “Yes if everything checks out we might be able to pay it off and you can have a little extra towards your Denali” - we owed around $12k on it (which wad known) After looking back on the paper I signed (fully aware I should've read it better), we realized we were only given $7k. That truck was worth so much more, and if I was going to sell it for that cheap it would have been to a friend. Not a dealership. Granted, I felt like they really honed in on us driving three and a half hours with an infant and knew we’d be leaving with a vehicle no matter what. I just wish I would’ve had a stronger backbone to say no and have left without trading the truck in. Also relatively sure the previous owners of this vehicle were smokers as it took a bit to get that smell out (and a random cigarette burn on the back of the third row)

Being so far away, I tried to do as much as I could remotely. I was still at the dealership for about three hours. Not fun with a baby.

Their finance guy was cool. Appreciated him.

Telling me we got a great deal is considering there was 0 negotiation when there could have easily been a more fair trade for the truck. Reaching out about how I was disappointed and being told “I distinctly recall us trying to fit the vehicle into your budget and told you that we could get there as long as your truck checked out okay and I never gave you numbers on your vehicle I apologize if you're disappointed.. you got a great deal and you are happy with the vehicle aren't you” and “Listen I'm on my way to church you sign the paperwork I went over the numbers with you before you went into Finance” without much support was defeating.

I will never do business with this dealership again. Minus the finance guy who was cool.

To top it off, they delivered to us for free the next day. Vehicle was as described and we were very happy with the service. Agreed on a price over the phone with sales team and manager, drove an hour and a half. when i arrived the car was priced 2k more then we agreed and refused to honor agreed pricing.
Update: The sales man Billy Holland reached out to me to see what they could do to get this review removed. He spent most of the time gas lighting me, pretending the conversation didn't happen between us (agreeing on 40k). he also deleted the conversation on messenger and pretended like it never happened, which was including the pictures he sent of the car to get me interested in the first place. which i ask how would i known you had a car i was interested in, that i asked him to keep a eye out for years prior? which i screenshot it all to send to my wife to check out. The whole point i was trying to make to him was about keeping your word, because as a man of my word, it goes a long way. I don't feel like 42k was a bad price, its the old bait and switch that upset me. i have bought 3 cars from him but will no longer, simply because of not a single sorry and that is our fault.
