I have been very pleased with the company since switching to them several years ago. Have propane and oil service and the technicians and office staff are top notch. I recently had a propane fireplace insert installed and they went way above and beyond in a difficult installation. They simplify customer service by scheduling annual cleaning service and automatic card on file billing. I am very happy with the company, I highly recommend them.

They installed an all new hot water baseboard system in my home about 8-9 years ago, including boiler, hot water tank, all new piping, etc. Just a few days ago a found a leak from one of the copper pipes from the water tank due to a crack in the copper (had been going a few days). I was extremely surprised because I've never heard of copper pipe cracking in a water system after only 8-9 years. I called JJ Sullivan to come and do the repair thinking that this must be a material issue (turns out I was right, but will get to that). Turns out they only service customers who regularly purchase oil from them. It doesn't matter if they originally installed the system or not. I can't remember if this was expressed to me at any point before, during, or after the installation of my system since it was so long ago. Regardless, doesn't seem like a good policy, in my opinion.

I contacted another company to perform the repair. It turns out the wrong copper pipe was used coming off the water tank. The company that's doing the repair said the original installer (JJ Sullivan) used copper pipe meant for heating only (thinner walls) versus copper pipe meant for water systems, which is why the pipe cracked after only 8-9 years. After hearing this, I was a bit upset because now I have to fork over an expensive repair bill for an issue caused by the installation performed by JJ Sullivan because they used the wrong copper pipe. This certainly now makes we question what other issues may pop up down the road resulting from inferior or incorrect materials used during the installation, especially because those kinds of things may be invisible from the outside.

I switched back to JJ Sullivan for my oil and propane because I was previously with a client who provided those services. It was the best decision I could’ve made. They are friendly and helpful especially JP.

We had to have two service calls two and three days before our annual heating service and although they could’ve easily charged me for both they didn’t charge me for either. The second call was urgent an resulted in JP coming 930 at night to educate me that our furnace was not broken but rather it worked a certain way because it was linked to the hot water tank. He could not have been nicer and took his time to explain the whole process to me. We are thankful for such a wonderful local oil and propane company.

I've been an oil customer since last winter and they've consistently delivered oil once a month.
I've also used them to install minisplits in my home and they did a wonderful job! They had accidentally installed a better unit for me and let me keep it at no extra cost! I would recommend them!

When they took over my heating oil account they took the previous vender’s web-enabled tank sensor, which I then had to pay for, and at every step of our relationship they were problematic. No, they don’t want to just bill me, they need a credit card on file, and no, American Express is no good here. Then they emailed me an ACH authorization, which I mailed to them same day, but two days later came an email ACH request, and a few days later a phone call telling me my account was overdue, only $100 balance because they billed me twice for a previous delivery, so they would not deliver until paid.
The annual cleaning is a job that takes a good technician about 30 minutes or more, but somehow they breezed through it in about 10. Do I think they did a great job?

After having been a customer for years for oil, propane, servicing and spending thousands of dollars on having a.c. installations and propane tanks, I had enough.

Super friendly if they think they can make a buck, but if something goes wrong, not so much . I had a problem with a.c. slightly over one year of installation and let's just say I was confronted with an attitude.

Having been a customer for years, no communications on various "plans" they offer leaving you to figure it out yourself. In particular plans for oil, e.g budget plan and so forth.

This past winter I had asked for a budget plan on my oil and was informed I could not do so until "spring" and I was shocked with the extremely high oil bill I received.

I get that oil has gone up, but the rates are not competitive.

I decided after the "tude", high oil prices, to cancel my contract and go with another provider who offered a rate of more than $1.00 per gallon less for oil and offered a budget plan spread over a year, with friendly customer service explaining options customers have.

I have been with the new provider for several months and am happy.

They offer the same services, but better customer service and rates.

If you enjoy paying high prices and don't mind being confronted with an attitude if something goes awry, this is the company for you.

Late afternoon on the day before vacation, I discovered that there was water in the basement coming from my central a/c. In a bit of a panic, I called Sullivan to say that I had water in my basement, leaking from the a/c. Before I could even ask, the young woman (Tara I think) said they would send somebody out immediately and they would be at my home within the hour.

The technician showed up quickly, found the problem (a clogged PVC trap), unclogged the pipe, replaced the trap and was on his way all within about an hour. Total cost of labor and parts for this emergency repair visit was $31.

I have used Sullivan for my heating oil, propane and furnace/air conditioning needs for 16 years. They are responsive, responsible and efficient, with knowledgeable technicians and fair prices. Very pleased to be a customer of this company and have no plans to ever change as long as I live in this area.

I never had oil before. I just bought a (new to me) house in Guilford with oil heat. Called the company that installed the furnace for service and they were down right rude to me. Called JJ Sullivan and have had the BEST experience. Each person has been kind, thoughtful, answered all of my questions. I’m a new customer for life.
