Got a private tour of the Pratt House Museum today in Essex CT by Melissa, a member of the Essex historical society and i must say that after more than 10 years of touring historic houses all through New England, she was the most knowledgable and passionate about the local and New England history than any of the other house tours I have been on. She made the history of the house, the construction, previous inhabitants and general history of the area and period engaging and enjoyable. I had a lot of questions and she was able to answer all of them in great detail with extraordinary knowledge of history. This tour was the highlight of our trip to the area and the Pratt House Museum is truly a hidden treasure and a must see for anyone interested in history or historical houses in New England. Due to covid, arrangements to visit the museum need to be made in advance but well worth the extra step. Masks and social distancing are observed.
