I've been a member for a few years, there is always something to do and always somewhere to visit. If you really want to know the vibe of this senior community, I suggest you attend some board meetings or watch them on YouTube- they will show you the friction and attitudes of a large amount of those living here and what the board of directors go through. Rather it's the love or bitterness of a few, it's definitely some passion of living here that makes them speak out about change, sometimes it nice and sometimes it's mean. Old age for some is living a mellow life in retirement, for others it's being bitter and mean about anything or anyone having a difference of opinion, once people learn how to respect the "agree to disagree" code, it might be a better place to live all over the country. When it comes to revamping, rebuilding, relocating, & remodelling you can guarantee it's going to be group yelling & screaming at a board meeting. Wasteful spending on architects drawings are becoming an issue $300k+, board members change votes due to community pressure and back to the drawing board. A new project happens or they recall votes and ask for new board members. Bottomline, nothing gets done by staying the same, a dated substandard facade of a time gone by. Some people are moving forward into the future with updated design on homes and willing to embrace change, while others are not. It's a slow process in Sun City, sadly those standards will have to change in order for the new guard moving here, that's looking for a peaceful retirement.
