Adorable free zoo! Absolutely charming and my 5 y.o. loved it. Paired with an amazing free park too, couldn’t be better! Cash only for the snack shack.

This is a great little zoo for a nice fall visit. Many of the animals have been taken off display for the winter but the few still there are worth paying a visit.

If you visit the duck pond, you MUST feed the swan from one of the candy machine style food dispensers. He’s a friendly critter that will follow you until you feed him.

This is a free zoo but donations are greatly appreciated and your contributions count.

This is an awesome park and an awesome free zoo! Just the right size for littles. The animals are so happy. And they have several well cared for special needs animals. There are even mini golf, a carousel, and a train in summer. Slam dunk for kiddos.

Our family visited last weekend and was a wonderful place to visit! Perfect amount of animals to see within hour to hour n half! Very charmed with the vibe of unique history in the area! Absolutely beautiful and a hidden little gem! cannot wait to visit again in the spring or summer.

The zoo was open to walk through but the monkeys are not wintering there. Not many animals to see. It is a large area to walk and we enjoyed that.

Made this stop to get out of the car, stretch and see the dinosaur statue. Turns out this park has so much more to offer. Finding this free zoo was a great bonus. There are several animals all in enclosures that had a very old school zoo approach, but they seemed spacious enough and the animals were active not just pacing back and forth. The grounds themselves were dirty and could use some cleaning up.

This is a historical little place.
It is absolutely so cool to just drive through here.And i've been going here for decades.
They've done a bunch of remodeling on some stuff, and I would highly recommend.
I don't live in independence but I visit here once a year and I take time to go through here during the day.

I have to say i felt like a kid at heart...
We were early to visit my son,so he suggested the zoo,so on the way to the zoo,we ran up on this beauty of a beast.
