***3rd Edit: It has been less than 2 years and the roof has failed (leaks) in the areas around the skylight that we were originally concerned about. The crew that they knowingly hired did not address the ice and water shield installation concerns we had, nor the damage to the skylights that also included damage to the interior of the home. They truly just ripped the skylights out as they were removing the old roof, which ripped the drywall on the interior of the home (videos and photos were provided to them day of) They also damaged our gutters and siding. They credited us a small amount to repair the "cosmetic damage" to the interior of the walls around the skylight but would not assist further nor would address the deficiencies in workmanship and installation. We have attempted to contact SAL construction but there is no answer, the voicemail is full and none of the employees we had contact information for work for him any longer. Turns out, this Contractor has worked in another state in which he was not licensed and defrauded people there. He is being sued by several customers in that state as well as by people in Central Illinois as well for insurance fraud. The BBB has now given him an F rating and we have hope that the IDFPR will follow suit and place sanctions in some way so that others are not defrauded.
2nd edit: some acknowledgent has been made that there is a problem with the work, but nothing formal from SAL construction. Several new deficiencies have been identified even. However, they are still asking for my insurance check and continuing the same shoddy work. No tradesperson from SAL Construction has bothered to contact me, although we have spoken with the office and another person that we aren't even sure who he works for (the public adjustor vs construction company). The project manager first denied, then gave me 3 different explanations, changing them as he was presented worh proof that what he was saying wasn't factual. We have photos, videos, factory rep documentation and are considering our legal options. They take no responsibility as if they have no control over the quality of the services they sell you.
Also, note the most recent reviews. Positive, but read them and see for youself whether they sound like legitimate reviews or not
1st edit: edited to add that shortly after this review, I contacted them again and I did receive a callback witha promise to make it right. I do intend to update this review once the service has ended and all the work is completed and damages reconciled.
Don't do it!!! They will hire someone out of another state to do the work. The people they chose for our job are incompetent. Completely ripped out every skylight, set them back up in their crooked. Ripped them away from the drywall on the inside even! The gutters, which they were not replacing, are damaged and ripped now. Nails everywhere!!! Everywhere outside of the house. We stopped counting at 25 in the walking path where the kids and the dog and everyone else goes. The diclosure we were provided with stated that 'our roofing crew' uses a magnet. First, it's not their crew--they either don't care who they hire or aren't any more competent than the crew responsible for this masterpiece
The worst contracted service we have ever been a part of. We chose this company under pressure from a public adjustors people and are deeply regretting it. We're in contact with our insurance company since they are funding the work--thankfully we haven't paid anyone yet. . ! . It's pretty unbelievable. And we have photos for every finding and more than I've shared here. If you're considering hiring this outfit for a home project, three words of advice for you: DON'T DO IT!!
Go with the people you know and trust. Normally I wait to post reviews, but in case someone in Central Illinois was reading reviews to make a decision tonight, this is for you. I let golks at SAL construction know tonight and was told"the boss" would be notified. Let them know about 545 and they decided they would just handle it in the am.
