Shimadzu has great instruments but the team in California is quite unprofessional. When the service team is called it generally takes 2 weeks to a month to even get someone to look at an instrument. They go dark on you for days. They make commitments they cannot uphold. For this reason I would strongly urge to avoid shimadzu unless your business can afford to have instruments down for months at a time. This is driven by Shimadzu not having back up parts in the US. Most parts they get directly from Japan.

High Quality Instruments that last forever! I have seen Shimadzu HPLC's manufactured in the 80s that are still in great working order
