I am a Curator of paleontology in a small Natural History Museum. I’m writing to warn others about the problems we have been having with Steel Fixture Manufacturing Co. Their Customer Service is very poor. It took over a year for them to actually process our order, and even after they agreed to send it immediately (Nov. 2023), a month later nothing was sent. It took more calls and another month before we received two metal specimen cabinets in late Jan. 2024. Once unpacked, placed in the correct location, and filled with fossils, one worked well while in the other all the trays fell from4116 their holding ledges to the bottom of the cabinet. Additionally, they were supposed to be keyed alike, they were not. Promises to send a replacement lock never happened.
We exchanged emails with the sales rep, who wanted photos, these were provided and clearly show that the width of the internal walls is too wide to securely hold the trays. He wanted more images, which we sent. He then quit responding to our emails or phone messages for the next 7 months or so, ignoring us. We finally reached a new person who claimed that the cabinet was in perfect order when sent and so any damage must have happened during shipping or later. Since we signed off on it upon arrival, and the fact that it was now a year later, the issue was our financial problem, not theirs. There was no mention of the months of ignoring us or that they had been told about the issue shortly after we received the cabinets.
We have discovered that the pop rivets holding the inside lining and tray ledges to the frame are all loose. So, the problem was triggered by what appears to be sloppy manufacturing all along.
There does not appear to be any interest in making this right. My advice to anyone considering a purchase from this company is to GO ELSEWHERE! This company does not appear to care at all about their customers, good business practice, or about any future sales. Don’t waste your money and time.

Product does not come with instructions. Map cabinet with came without locks. They sent locks after the fact with no instructions.
