My father recently passed away and I was fortunate enough to have had the help of David Blackwell and Swan funeral home to help me through the process. David professionally and thoughtfully handled every detail of the process, from cremation to burial. Dignity truly does Define them.

The funeral director, Rodney Varney, and his team's services were exceptional. The service was elegantly planned and the staff were helpful and polite. The burial ceremony was perfect. During this difficult time, Rodney and his team were very understanding and guide me though out the funeral service and burial process. I also loved how Rodney reached out to me on personalized the card and poem for my husband. Thank you Rodney and team so much for all your exceptional service!

At best funerals are bitter-sweet events as are the various rituals surrounding them such as obituaries and cremations. I am therefore very pleased to say that Swan in Madison and its director, David Blackwell, did a marvelous job in connection with the recent passing of my wife: attentive, thoughtful, efficient, fair-minded with respect to costs, and even graceful.

I cannot say enough about Rodney Varney and the entire staff at Swan. They handled our family’s needs at the darkest time of our lives and they did an incredible job taking care of us and my mom’s service. Many thanks to all of them for being so kind and graceful when we needed it most.

My father passed in March of 2020. The funeral service itself was very limited but Swan funeral home did a great job. After the funeral I contracted Swan’s funeral home to put the inscription on my father‘s headstone. The contract was paid in full and I was assured that within several months the inscription would be placed. It is now one year and many months later and after multiple calls to Swan funeral home my father still does not have an inscription. My father was a veteran and a veteran’s plaque has already been placed, however, for one reason or another (no explanation after multiple calls)unfortunately Swan’s funeral home has not completed the contract that has been paid for in full over a year ago. My family and I are very saddened that my father lies in his grave after living for 91 years and serving this wonderful country and does not have an inscription on his tombstone. Very sad and totally unacceptable.
