Betty Jean at Tanners provided exceptional customer service for our group! Of course like many other’s we had our fish processed at Tanners during the busiest time of the year. Tanners also provided extra storage for us until our departure date. We decided to have most of our fish shipped this year, so Betty Jean stayed in touch with me even after we left town and helped me split up the order over the phone to be shipped to multiple addresses. Tanners overall provided great service from when we dropped off our fish until our fish boxes arrived on time! It was nice having that peace of mind feeling knowing they were going to get everything taken care of and shipped out once we returned from our trip. I look forward to utilizing Tanners next summer for processing along with purchasing some fresh items off their website to be expedited to us.

Came here because it was busy season and our preferred processor was full. I would not recommend because:

-Communication was awful. No one available to pick up phones after multiple attempts to contact.

-90% of our vacuum sealed salmon was not sealed properly, and now we're stuck with frozen, compromised salmon that will likely not last as long as it should without some freezer burn. (See photo)

-Cost was higher than other local processors. We did not ship with them, but their shipping cost was at least 25% more than other processors.

-Staff weren't that friendly outside, but I'm sure they were just exhausted from taking on too many orders.

Long story short, two stars for actually being able to accept fish during busy time, but for what I paid to have my fish processed I could have purchased my own vacuum sealer and bags to do it myself.

I have been fishing on the Kenai Peninsula for 35 years as a guest, guide (13 years), outfitter manager and lodge owner. We have used every processor on the Peninsula and Tanners is BY FAR the best. During my stint as an outfitter and lodge owner, over 5,000 of our guests have had fished processed there and I could count problems on one hand and some of those were FED EX shipping issues. Tanners always did the right thing by the customer.
During peak sockeye runs, all processors have issues and have to initiate some rules for the process and timing, It is well communicated. The quality is excellent, staff (especially Betty Jean) is customer oriented, and the system is well managed. From going door to door soliciting business, Jason has built a sustainable business through hard work and customer service. We will continue using Tanners for all of our services

We used Tanner seafood in Soldotna this year for our fish processing based on the recommendation of others. We were very pleased with the professionalism and technology/facilities they have. Other places had turned us down in the past because they couldn’t handle the volume of the busy season, but Tanners Seafood took in everything we brought each day. We also had the opportunity to test out their customer service after our trip and found the communication was awesome and the follow-through left us completely satisfied! I would recommend using Tanners Seafood processing on your next trip. I know we will be!

There are other processors around. Drop off was great we brought in 120 lbs. of fish and gave detailed instructions on what we want and when. The when was important because we were on our way out of town. We arrived well before ‘They’ said they would have it ready. By ‘ ‘ready’ they said they would have it packaged and ‘ready to fly’. When we got there the rude lady working the counter tried to give us packages of fish with no box. We explained it was to be in boxes, per instructions on the sheet and she said boxes were a courtesy even though we paid $30 per box to be packaged. After we argued only then did she have them package it. There are other processors around…our guide sent us here.

We came to Tanners in late July and brought our salmon from our fishing in Sterling. The service was great and we had some of our fish made into lox. What a treat. I have tried other fish processing in the area and give Tanner’s highest marks.

From a recent client
""Dear Jason & Rory,
Your Soldotna "Tanners" processed & packed my/our fish this past week while we stayed at Hooksetters Lodge. I want say that your Soldotna GM gave 3 of us extraordinary & friendly service all week. Betty Jean & her staff not only did an exceptional Processing Job but treated us as close friends , Betty Jean herself finished our trip on Sunday morning with a box of fish that was still hard-frozen when we got home Monday morning. Please pass my sincere Thanks to Betty Jean and tell her I hope to see her again (although I'm now 80) and will highly recommend Tanners Seafood to all my fishing friends.
Best Regards - Don"
