Purchased our first MG2030 FTIR and ASC-10-ST automated sampling controller in October 2018. Once ancillary equipment (LN2 dewar/CTS gas/cal gases with SF6) was purchased we held our first training session on a natural gas fired engine. The pre-loaded software made pollutant selection very easy. There were copious amounts of notes taken during the session as the amount of information to take in was huge. At the completion of the 4-hour training session there was a sense of accomplishment and a greater understanding of the instruments operation and capabilities. Having the ASC-10-ST integrated with the FTIR makes your field day easier. All your calibrations (direct, system, and spike) are a click away. After the first training session several in-house tests were performed to develop more familiarity with the instruments and software. A second training session was performed on an ambient source (non-combustion) using a calibration gas with SF6. This second 3-hour session reinforced our understanding of instrument setup, calibrations, and data storage. For first timers I would recommend at least two training sessions. The ASC-10-ST is "worth its weight in gold", is neatly packaged, and rack mountable. The ASC software links directly to the FTIR software such that both can be controlled with the ASC shell program. Overall this MAT product is "powerful" and will increase our capabilities in emission measurement testing. Our many questions to MAT have been returned promptly.
