Location and Facilities

The center’s strategic location in Mobile, Alabama, positions it to serve a significant portion of the southeastern United States. Situated along Shipyard Road, it benefits from access to major transportation routes, facilitating the efficient flow of mail. The building is designed to handle high volumes of mail, employing a sophisticated system to manage the complex logistics involved in the postal system.

While the facility primarily operates behind the scenes, minimizing direct customer interaction, the low average rating suggests potential issues with service timeliness, communication, or overall customer experience. It’s important for potential users to be aware of these reviews before relying on this center for their mailing needs. The reviews often mention delays in processing and a lack of readily available information.

Contact Information and Website

Unfortunately, the USPS Processing and Distribution Center at 4538 Shipyard Rd, Mobile, AL 36619 does not currently have a publicly available website. Contact information is limited, and direct phone lines are not readily accessible for general inquiries. Additional Points of Interest

Beyond its core functions, the center contributes to the local economy and provides employment opportunities. The delivery operations, though largely unseen by the public, are essential to the smooth operation of commerce and communication within the region. The facility’s presence underscores the continued importance of the USPS in the 21st century. It’s a vital component of the nation’s infrastructure, ensuring that messages and goods reach their destinations efficiently.

Key Considerations for Users: Due to the lack of direct customer service channels, planning ahead and allowing ample time for mail processing is highly recommended. Utilizing online tracking tools and contacting local post offices for updates are advisable strategies. The facility’s focus is primarily on efficient processing and distribution, rather than personalized customer support. Understanding this operational model is crucial for managing expectations.

My small 3 or 4 oz. Package has been setting there for 5 days now. What's the problem with the usps ? Waiting on my medicine from the mail. USPS has really gone down hill over the years. From reading the reviews looks like the manager there needs to be terminated for incompetence and lack of capability to complete the task at hand . Someone needs to check this place out and find out what the problem is.
Mail trucks out everywhere Sunday delivering Amazon packages but can't deliver my little package that's been sitting there for 8 days now.

When overnight delivery is of the highest priority, you can almost count on these people to screw it up! Not sure what happens here; but, almost everytime 1 of my items has gotten lost, it disappeared after arriving at the Mobile, AL Distribution Center. If not for Amazon, USPS would shrivel to nothing! They keep raising service prices to compensate for less mail due to email versus old school mail delivery. But, truth is, when push comes to shove & we NEED to be able to depend on USPS, the service SUCKS & proves to be unreliable! That's the real reason why most people are now shying away from using USPS. The whole system needs a makeover, but it should start with THIS FACILITY!

The dreaded "MOVING THROUGH NETWORK" doom.

Our entire Mobile USPS network needs a serious overhaul from rude employees to endless lost packages. There is no way to contact or figure out where your expensive items are. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Why hasn't the manager of this facility been fired yet?

I am still waiting on a package that was supposed to deliver on Monday, 11-25-2024, to the Daphne Post Office. Instead the Mobile, AL distribution center sent it to Jacksonville, FL, they held it for 1-1.5 days and it was returned to the Mobile Distribution Center again. They then sent it to Montgomery, AL which sent it back.
The package now sits at the Mobile Distribution Center waiting to see where these morons send it next.
***If FedEx and UPS operated in this manner they would be bankrupt and non-existent.***
****This facility has earned less than one star. Look at all these reviews.*****
I am sending my Congressman a PDF file this morning and asking them why USPS cannot deliver a simple package.
It is now 11-27-2024 0745 and it's still in Mobile If I do not get it today at best I will be receiving it eight days late.
If these morons do not send it to another distribution center AGAIN!!!
As it stands now I probably will not see this package until December 2024 or later!

I currently (01/30/25) have two packages that have been stuck here for weeks now. This is pathetic and all management and employees needs to be fired, replaced, and a new system brought in. There is zero reasons why this should ever happen. I'll have to file a claim now and those two packages sent to me were very expensive and I'm not sure I'll get any money back.

If I could I’d give this place 0 stars. My package has been stuck at this facility for almost a week and it’s priority mail. Even after opening an investigation all USPS could say is “they’re really behind up there” but all my bosses know what’s going on… it’s sad the management of this place need to be removed.
